Dorothy Ruth (White) Cartwright, 92 years old, passed away on Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg, PA. She was born June 25, 1929 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Dr. Howard E. White and Ruth (Gloss) White. She was a 1947 graduate of McKeesport High School. She graduated from Robert Morris Business College in 1948 before graduating from McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She moved to White Oak in 1992 and retired from McKeesport Hospital as an RN in 1994. In 2015 she moved to Redstone Highlands North Huntingdon. She was a lifelong member of Beulah Park Methodist Church and also attended First Evangelical Free Church. Dorothy never retired from taking care of people. Even after her retirement from the hospital, she continued to care for those around her - neighbors, family and friends. In earlier years after retiring, she enjoyed taking short bus trips with friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Howard Fredrick White, son Jeffrey Cartwright, daughter JoAnn (Cartwright) Leckman, and son-in-law Terry Leckman. She is survived by her daughter Jacquelyn Cartwright of Florida, three grandchildren: Matthew (Kate) Leckman of Elkins Park, PA, Amanda (Leckman) DePaulis (Michael DePaulis) of White Oak, Erik Leckman of White Oak, and three great-grandchildren, Christian, Grace, and Charlotte Leckman. She is also survived by her dear friend, Liz Sieber. There will be no visitation, but the family will receive visitors and host a memorial service, officiated by Rev. Brenda Barnes, at Redstone Highlands Chapel in North Huntingdon on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11 am. Private burial will be at McKeesport-Versailles Cemetery, McKeesport. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to Redstone Highlands Benevolent Care Fund at redstonehighlands.org The family would like to thank Redstone staff, and especially Judy and Angie from Redstone @ Home, Carly, Diana, Nikki, Sue, Rita, Candy, Linda, Carol and Sharon at Skilled Nursing, and Paul, Jennifer, Dawn, Sara and Amanda at Redstone Hospice for the loving care given to Dorothy during her final days.
