Jean Kathryn Schmidt, 95, of West Newton, formerly of Frank, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022. She was born April 14, 1926 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Jesse (Wood) Way. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Schmidt who passed away February 9, 2004. Jean was a member, organist and pianist at the former First Baptist Church of Frank. She was also organist at the former Bell Chapel in Buena Vista. She was retired from the Elizabeth Forward School District.

She is survived by her children, Richard P. (Traci) Schmidt of West Newton, Charles J. (JoAnn) Schmidt of Connellsville, Kathryn Jean (Thomas Harmon) Schmidt of West Newton, and Daniel A. (Lois) Schmidt of Monaca, grandchildren, Steven W. (Lisa Wennerstrom) Bradley, Krystal (Jeff) DeVault, Daniel (Vanessa) Schmidt, Jason (Sarah) Schmidt, Lauren (Benjamin) Leone, Nicole (Chad) Davis, Michael (Kate) Schmidt, and Matthew (Brittney) Schmidt, great-grandchildren, Isaac, Jade, Opel, Emerald, Claire, Jacob, Natalia, Luca, Arianna, Jenna, Julia, Briar, Josh, Jaydin, and Finley, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Anderson, brothers, William and Phillip Way and great-grandson, Jayson Tuttle. Friends are welcome Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J.
