William S. "Bill" Butler

William S. "Bill" Butler, 91, of Greensburg passed away Monday, May 2, 2022. He was born October 5, 1930 in McKeesport and was the son to the late William Thomas and Margaret (McCulley) Butler. A 1951 graduate of McKeesport Vocational School, he became a certified machinist by trade and worked at Teledyne for 30 years before transferring to Kennametal in Latrobe for 10 years. Bill served in the Army during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged. He was a long time member of the Holy Trinity Church and after closing, he became a member at St. Patrick's Church. On July 22, 1953 Bill married the love of his life, Marlene T. (Buzek) Butler, and passed away just two months shy of their 69th wedding anniversary. Bill was an avid golfer, and bowler and was a part of many leagues through the years. He was also a member of the Croatian Fraternal Lodge #146 and of the 11th Ward Social Club. He was a handyman, always building and "I can fix it" was his answer to anything that needed done.

In addition to his wife, Marlene, Bill is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Ramon) Martin of Lakewood, CO, sons, Timothy (Julieann) Butler of Perrysburg, OH, and Shawn (Colleen) Butler of Muskegon, MI; grandchildren, Aaron (Lindsey) Leiker, Mathew Butler, Blythe (Robert) Retzlaff, and Tristan Butler; great-grandchildren, Camden and Josephine Leiker, and Mila and Luka Retzlaff; sister-in-law, Jessie Butler; brother-in-law, Robert Buzek, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to parents, Bill is preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Butler, and Mimi (Chet) Parades, grandson, Ryan Leiker, along with his in-laws, John and Helen Buzek.
