Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | June 24, 2022
Ella McAraw, 91, of White Oak, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2022. Born October 19, 1930, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (McGinty) McAraw.
She was employed at the U.S. Steel Christy Park Works for 30-plus years. Ella was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church in White Oak, and the Red Hat Society for women. Ella’s life was filled with many trips to the Twinsburg Festival in Ohio with her twin sister Mary. She traveled around the world, including several trips to Ireland, and socialized with her cousin Bernie and other friends and family whenever possible. Ella also loved watching sports and stunned many with her thorough knowledge of local sports figures as well as facts and trivia dealing with her beloved Steelers. Ella’s true passion, however, was her belief and strength in her faith. It was her faith that made her the most comfortable, knowing she was starting her new journey with God.
Ella is survived by a sister-in-law, Dolly McAraw, of White Oak; nephews, Vincent DiAngelo, of Clairton, Raymond (Diane) McAraw of North Huntingdon, John “Spanky” (Christina) McAraw, of White Oak; great-niece, Kelsey McAraw and lifelong cousins and confidants - Bernie, Ella Jean, and Colleen.
She was preceded in death by her sister and twin, Mary (Nick) DiAngelo; brother, James P. McAraw and nephew, James M. McAraw.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at The Residence of Whitehall and Commonwealth Hospice, specifically Erin and Liz, for the tenderness afforded our family member in her last days.
“May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Angela Merici Church. Burial will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery.
