Helen (Gdovic) Epler, age 97, of McKeesport, died September 7, 2022, at Kane Community Living Center in McKeesport.  Born March 13, 1925, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Koval) Gdovic and wife of the late Roy O. Epler.  Helen was a member of Saints Joachim and Anne Parish and the Holy Trinity Senior Group.  She worked as a cashier at the Victor Theatre in McKeesport and J&L Steel, inspecting bombs that were sent overseas during World War II.

A favorite pastime of hers was dancing and listening to the Big Band Sounds and music sung by Al Martino.  She enjoyed tending to her garden, baking, and cooking for friends and family.  In her later years, she cherished seeing her family and a monthly visit to her daughter's home in Ohio.  Helen is survived by daughters, Marlene Mathers, of Hewitt, TX, Dolores "Dolly" (Richard) Kershner, of Fredericktown, OH, and Kandy Frew, of Penn Hills, PA; grandchildren, Pamela Johnston and James Mathers; great-grandchildren, Morgan Johnston Coburn and Tyler Johnston, both of Hewitt, TX.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Gdovic.  Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday from 10 a.m. until Noon.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Eugene Church.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Port Vue.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.willigfuneralcremationservices.com.  Charles Danforth, Supervisor
