Robert J. Peternel, age 94, of West Mifflin, died on Monday, September 26, 2022. He was born in Pittsburgh on November 3, 1927 and is the son of the late Joseph Peternel and Mary Dolance Peternel Wayne and the husband of the late Mildred Lamars Peternel. He proudly served in the United States Airforce during World War II and for many years after the war.
He is survived by children, Sandra (Thomas) Dolata of West Mifflin; Regis (Nadia) Peternel of Baldwin; Diana (Mike) Clark of Clairton; brother, William Peternel of Brentwood, and grandchildren, Ashley (James) Kratzenberg; Brittany Dolata; Thomas Dolata; Justina Peternel; Christopher Mitchell; and Robert Mitchell, and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ethel Mudron and Regis Peternel.
Family and friends will gather at Strifflers of Dravosburg/West Mifflin, 740 Pittsburgh McKeesport Blvd., Dravosburg, PA 15034 (412-678-6192) on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., when services will be held in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Charles Owston officiating. Burial will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
