James W.  "Jim" Corbett, age 78, of North Versailles, died November 2, 2022, at AHN Forbes Hospital after a long battle with lung cancer.  Born December 16, 1943, in Braddock, he was the son of the late Michael and Virginia (Defibaugh) Corbett and husband and of 56 years to his childhood sweetheart, Laura (Gallagher) Corbett.  Jim served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1967 on the USS Rich as a boiler maker.  After his honorable discharge, he began a career in the Steel Industry, where he worked for 19 years, and ended his career with LTV Steel as a Foreman.  Jim never wanted to retire and was an extremely hard worker, which he continued as an OTR driver for Green Valley Cleaners and finally worked as the caretaker of the North Versailles Community Center throughout his chemotherapy.  Jim was a Volunteer Fireman with the Green Valley Volunteer Fire Department and past Fireman of the Year.  As an avid Pirates and Steelers fan, he was known as an armchair coach.  He enjoyed listening to just about any music and dancing with his wife when they were young.  Jim spent his time bowling in leagues at Great Valley Lanes, playing cards, video games, playing the lottery, playing corn hole, making people laugh, and fishing with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren.  He fished many local spots, such as Twin Lakes, Turtle Creek, Renzie Park, Indian Lake, and Keystone Lake.  One of the most important things to Jim was taking care of his family and ensuring they had everything they needed.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by daughters, Tracy (Rocco) Trunzo and Shannon (Paul) Trunzo; grandchildren, Darby, Evan (Brianna), Ashley, and Gianni; siblings, Ronald (the late Barb) Corbett, Donald (Dianna) Corbett, and Joann (Edward) Comer; sisters-in-law, Lana Corbett and Andrea Corbett along with many nieces and nephews.  Jim was also preceded in death by siblings, William (Susan) Corbett, Patricia (Ted) Coppola, Robert Corbett, John Corbett, Virginia Corbett, Ruth Corbett, Richard Corbett, and Linda (Michael) Bianculli.  Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, at 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela of Merici Church.  The burial and military honors will follow at Restland Memorial Park.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.  Chris Odasso, Supervisor
