Eleanor A. Powell, 84, of Buena Vista, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022. She was born November 20, 1937 in Finleyville and was the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Howard) Smith. She was the wife of the late Frederick Powell, Jr., who passed away July 4, 1984. Eleanor worked many jobs throughout her life, but her biggest accomplishment was raising seven children. Prior to retirement, she worked for Buena Vista Post Office as a Clerk.

She is survived by her children, Valerie (James) Rook of Elizabeth Township, Anita (Dale) Murrell of Blakely, Cheryl (the late Charles) Kinner of Buena Vista, Diane (Danny Loughner) Malone of Clairton, Raymond Powell of Belle Vernon, and Stacey (Rusty) Brown of Irwin; grandchildren, Gered, Derek, Ryan, and Stephanie Powell, Jennifer Holman, Jamie Cimba, Brent, Adam, and Stephan Murrell, Brian Kinner, Alisha Lacey, JW, and Danielle Malone, Derrick, Jacob, and Zachary Powell, Kali Scott, and Cami Browne; 20 great-grandchildren; her sister, Martha (the late John) Dick of Finleyville; and a few nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor is also preceded in death by her sister, Jane Geichi; and her son, Richard Powell, who passed away in August of 2011. Friends are welcome Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, director. Funeral Service will take place Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 10:00am in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Murrell officiating.
