Vera Margaret Wade Ross, 85 of Clairton, Pennsylvania, departed this life September 29, 2016 in West Penn Hospice.

Born March 13, 1931 in Clairton, PA, daughter of the late Rev. Hampton Wade and Susan Emma Conyers Wade. She was preceded in death by son Shawn J. Ross and siblings Dorothy Wade, Roman "Bubba" Wade, Charles Wade, and Mary L. Gainey.

Vera was an active member of Mt. Olive First Baptist Church. She served on the Usher Board #2 , sang in the Unity Choir and was a former member of the Women's Chorus, Flower Guild, and Calendar Committee. She was a member of the former South Side Social Club and the Court of Calanthe #183 Pride of Clairton.

She formerly worked as a Housekeeper for Jefferson Hospital, receptionist for Dr. Charles C. Bookert, and Minority Clerk Ward 2 District 2 of the Allegheny County Election Board.

Surviving are daughter, Susan (Richard) Ross-Cottom of Oklahoma City, OK; adopted daughter Harriet (Stuart) Tobe-Schley of Harrisburg, PA; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Martha Wade of Clairton, god-brother Dr. William Coon of Mitchellville, MD, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends will be received Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the at Mt. Olive First Baptist Church, 451 Park Avenue, Clairton, Pennsylvania, where services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Willie J. Thompson, Jr., officiating.

Interment will be private. Arrangements entrusted to the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc., Clairton, PA.
