Dolores "Dee" Marte, age 94, of North Versailles, died at home on April 5, 2023. Born December 25, 1928, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Sotak) Osika and wife of the late John D. Marte.Dee found happiness through her family and cooking. Every Sunday, she prepared a home-cooked meal for her family (Slovak dishes were her specialty), and then the family played cards and Rummikub. Dee was known for her great sense of humor, and she also enjoyed playing the daily number and buying “scratchies.“ She would always marvel when she saw a full moon; she loved animals and nature, and worked hard in her vegetable garden for many years. Dee is survived by daughters, Patricia (Mark Cleaver) Heffron and Kathleen (the late Kevin) Schreiber; grandchildren, Theresa (Slava) Kolpakova, Colleen Schreiber, and Andrew Schreiber; great-grandson, Valentin Kolpakov; many nieces, nephews, and her sweet cat Matchka. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Stephen, Joseph, John, George, Andrew, and Edward Osika; sisters, Josephine Krajack, Evelyn Judd, and Margaret Magdic. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. The burial will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to an animal shelter of your choice. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.
