Rosemarie (Paterra) Ruta, 82, of White Oak, formerly of McKeesport, died on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at UPMC McKeesport. Born on Feb. 10, 1934, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Falco and Laura (Rattanni) Paterra and the wife of Guerrino A. Ruta Sr. Rosemarie was retired from the former Bell Atlantic Corp., where she was a member of Bell Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of St. Patrick Parish, where she was active with Christian Mothers, Bible Study Group, St. Anthony Novena and The Divine Mercy Prayers.
Additionally, she was an associate member of Sisters of the Divine Redeemer. Rosemarie also was a member of Italian Sons and Daughters of America, Palanese League of America, SOAR and Christy Park Seniors. Rosemarie took great pride in her Italian heritage. She was a great cook and passed on her love of Italian food and cooking to her family, who always looked forward to a home-cooked family meal. In addition to her husband, Rosemarie is survived by children, Jerry (Terry), of Minneapolis, Minn., Frank (Anne), of Arlington, Va., Gino (Paula), of Fairfax, Va., and Therese Jackson, of North Huntingdon; grandchildren, Nicole Mattison (Nick), Augustin, Gino, Perry and Phillip; sister, Fallie Princeton (Norman), of North Huntingdon; and many nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by siblings, Agostino and Louis Paterra, Olympia England and Louise Betters, and son-in-law, James Jackson. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at WILLIG FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at St. Patrick Church, Father Vincent Velas as celebrant. Entombment will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.
