Gilbert R. Yniguez, age 78, of McKeesport, died August 11, 2023. Born August 11, 1945, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Apolonio and Cecelia (Kelley) Yniguez and the husband of Patricia (Simpson) Yniguez for 55 years.Gil was retired from U.S. Steel and worked at Christy Park, Duquesne, and then Edgar Thompson in Braddock. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the White Oak American Legion. Gil was also a member of the West Mifflin Knights of Columbus and Mary, Mother of God Parish, where he was a Eucharistic Minister for many years at Corpus Christi Church. He was an avid gardener and grew peppers, onions, and tomatoes. Gil enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife, having dinner with his family, watching his grandchildren grow up and he always looked forward to his weekly phone calls with his closest friends. He volunteered for the food bank, church, and at the White Oak American Legion. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Gilbert (Amy) Yniguez, Connie Fitch, Scot Yniguez, and Christina (David) Yniguez Bosway; grandchildren, Jessica (David Pomycala) Fitch, Hayley Yniguez, Madilyn Yniguez, Santana Yniguez, Gavin Bosway, Brock Bosway, and Chloe Bosway; brothers, Polo and James Yniguez. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Elvira Yniguez Carter; brothers, Sonny Maldonado, Robert Maldonado, Thomas Maldonado, Daniel Maldonado, and Harry Maldonado. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Angela of Merici Church.
