Robert A. Bonczek, age 94, of McKeesport, died November 25, 2023, at home. Born December 19, 1928, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Paul and Helen (Janovitz) Bonczek and the husband of the late Doris Mae (Henry) Bonczek and the late Shirley (Marker) Bonczek.
Bob was the owner and operator of the former Bonczek Auto Service at the corner of Patterson Ave. and Walnut St. of McKeesport. He was also known as the undisputed "World's Finest Auto Mechanic!" Bob was a veteran of the US Army. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Screaming Eagle, 101st Airborne Division, serving during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. He was also a member of Saints Joachim and Anne Parish. He loved boating on the Monongahela River, traveling, hunting, and fishing. Bob also enjoyed dancing and skeet shooting at the Clairton Sportsmen's Club.

Bob is survived by children, Janet (William) Ertle of Millsboro, DE, and Glenn (Carole) Bonczek of McKeesport; Shirley's children, Dennis (Joyce) Marker of Port Vue and Janice (Phil) Rogers of Cranberry; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Dolores Blum of Pittsburgh and Florence Innes of Sarasota, FL; nieces and nephew; also his special friend, Terry Pazuchanics of Elizabeth Twp.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, 10 a.m., at Saints Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Eugene's Church of Liberty Borough. Committal prayers, military honors, and burial will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
