Marlene Anne Cendar, age 84, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born September 13, 1939, in Braddock, she was the daughter of the late Lovro "Lawrence" and Anna (Skander) Rojevcan and the wife of the late Francis "Frank" Cendar. They were married on June 11, 1960, and recently celebrated 63 years together.Marlene graduated from Rankin High School and spent several years working as a cafeteria server for the Elizabeth Forward School District. She was proud of her Croatian heritage and enjoyed the Tamburitzans, reading the Zajednicar newspaper, and Kolo dancing back in the day. Marlene had a creative side and dabbled in sewing, crochet, macrame, quilling, pottery, and wreath-making. She enjoyed card playing and was a long-time member of her neighborhood card club. She was a devoted grandmother who enjoyed the caretaking and company of her grandchildren immensely and was there for all of her grandchildren's life milestones.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Lisa (Robert) Didden and Janine (Grant) Peckham, both of Alexandria, Virginia; grandchildren, Matthew, William, Jessica Didden, Richard and Steven Peckham; sisters, Carole Krinock and Donna Guine, both of Derry, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Marlene was preceded in death by her sisters, Geraldine "Gerry" Falk and Lorraine Frenchik.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 10 a.m., at Saints Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church.
