Raymond Dale Hurley, age 74, of Wendel, died at home on February 11, 2024. Born December 14, 1949, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Frank and Mildred (Sloane) Hurley.Raymond graduated from McKeesport High School in 1967 and attended the University of Pittsburgh, receiving his Bachelor of Science. He worked as a quality control inspector for Genuine Tool Company and later as an electrical technician for U.S. Steel, ensuring the highest standards of excellence and precision. Alongside his diligent work, he fostered deep friendships with fellow employees, frequently gathering for dinners well after retirement. Raymond's photography skills were honed over two decades, capturing countless cherished moments. Specializing in wedding and sports team photography, his lens immortalized joyous celebrations and triumphant victories.
Beyond his professional life, Raymond found immense joy in assembling and flying model and RC planes, a pastime that gave him freedom and wonder. As a member of the Keystone Clippers, he garnered admiration from fellow aviation enthusiasts, who respected his skills and shared his love for airborne adventures. Raymond possessed an innate green thumb, nurturing a vibrant garden that bloomed with an array of colors and scents. His particular fondness for peonies was evident as he lavished them with care.
Raymond is survived by his children, Lorilyn (Jeff) Gentsch, Bryan (Kari) Hurley, Wendilyn Hurley, and Marc (Sarah) Hurley; grandchildren, Christopher and Kaitlyn Genstch, Domenik and Noelle Hurley, and Keenan and Madison Hurley; a brother, Bill (Sheri) Hurley. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Military honors will take place at 3:45 p.m. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.
