Roberta L. Benson

Willig Funeral Home & Crematory

Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | March 03, 2024

Roberta (Bert) Lynn Benson, 66, of McKeesport, died peacefully at home on Friday, March 1, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family and her daughters at her side.  Roberta was born August 1, 1957, in McKeesport; she was the daughter of the late Ray and Dolores Jean (Hedley) Suarez and the wife of the late Randy Benson, the love of her life.  She has seen the world in ways not many people ever do.  Even on the gloomy days, her world was full of glitter, rainbows and love.  She saw the good in every person & the beauty in the most insignificant things.  She was thankful for every day she saw the sun shining and heard the birds chirping (or that damn dog, even if she would never admit it).  She never took a single moment for granted.
She found peace & serenity at Geneva on the Lake. She would spend hours looking for beach glass, surrounded by the water's calmness and feeling the sun's warmth.  She touched so many lives by sharing her love, always trying to make everyone's day a little brighter.  She touched many people's lives over the years, working in the Emergency Room at McKeesport Hospital, where she also met dear friends who became family.

Roberta is survived by her daughters, Kris Stitt of Monroeville and Michele Cramer of Perryopolis; son, Michael (Nikki) Jackson of Smock; granddaughters, Brianna, Alayna, Taylor, and Braelyn; her sister & best friend, Debbie (Gil) Cortes and "Her Boys" Sparkle and Magic, who never left her side.  Family and Friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Jody Dausey will officiate.
