Walter H. Miller age 95 of White Oak passed peacefully on Saturday November 19, 2016. He was born on September 1, 1921 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Peter and Rose Leibold Miller. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Geraldine R. Geyer Miller. Mr. Miller is survived by his daughters Christine (William) Carney of Elizabeth Twp. and Suzanne Gadelmeyer of New Castle, grandchildren; Peter (April) Fedor IV, Erica Gadelmeyer, Heidi (Adam) Gadelmeyer, Frederick Gadelmeyer and Michael Carney and great granddaughter Paisley Fedor.
Mr. Miller was a graduate of McKeesport High School, 1949 graduate of The University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, where he was also affliated with Eta Kappa Nu. He retired in June 1977 from IBM, Pittsburgh as an electrical engineer. He decided after retirement to pursue a real estate career from Penn State McKeesport and began working for Century 21. Mr. Miller was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WWII and Korea. Mr. Miller was a member of St. Angela Merici Church and its Keener Citizens and the former St. Mary German Church, McKeesport Turners, Quarter Century Club at IBM, member and advocate of the NRA and an avid outdoorsman. Family and friends are welcome on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Troy J. Gilbert, Supervisor, 1638 Lincoln Way White Oak, Pa 15131 (412-672-6322). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday November 22, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Angela Merici Church with Fr. Gregory Madeya. Interment will follow in St. Mary German Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. Anthony School Programs 2000 Corporate Dr. Wexford, Pa. 15090 or to the Wounded Warrior Project-Pittsburgh One Oxford Centre 301 Grant St. Pittsburgh, Pa 15219.
