Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory

Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | November 18, 2016

John A.  "Bud" Menzie, age 94 of North Versailles, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Beacon Ridge in Indiana, PA. Born March 16, 1922 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late John B. and LaDean (Knight) Menzie, and loving husband of the late Thelma (Lytle) Menzie. Following high school, John began working as an electrician for National Tube Works until he joined the US Army, having honorably served during WWII as a paratrooper. He later went on to work for his father's dairy business, Menzie Dairy Co. in McKeesport, having retired after many years of dedicated service. Bud attended the McKeesport Alliance Church where he enjoyed being a member of the Keenagers and the church choir. He also devoted his free time volunteering for the church food bank for many years. Some of his favorite times where spent in his trailer going on road trips across the states and spending time in the woods camping. He was affectionately referred to as the "neighborhood handy-man", getting frequent calls to fix friends electrical work and lamps, or as he would say, "tinker" with them. Bud will be missed for his jokester personality, and always knowing how to put you in a good mood. John is survived by his grandson, Stephen John (Maria) Lowman of Indiana, PA; great-grandsons, Micah and Jonah Lowman; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Lowman; son, Ronald Menzie; and siblings, Lois Menzie, Ruth Gross, William Menzie and Glenn Menzie. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Marty Smith will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Great Commission Fund, Payable to The Christian Missionary Alliance, Attn: Office of Donor Accounting, 8595 Explorer Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80920.
