Phillip E. Clifford, “Moose”, 80 of Clairton, Pennsylvania, peacefully Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 in AHN Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Born February 29, 1936 in Clairton, son of the late James Ward and Maude Payne Clifford. He was preceded in death by grandchildren, Keith Snow, Jr., Phylice Clifford, Kendrieah Ogletree; siblings, Melva Jean, James (Buddy), Moton, Ernest, Lois, Esther.
He attended Kingdom C.O.M.E. Ministries. Phillip was a 1953 graduate of Clairton High School, attended Florida A& M and later graduated from California University of PA, where he earned a BA in Education. A retired teacher of 35 years with the Clairton School District, where he also coached football, basketball, baseball and track member of the Clairton 88’s and a 2000 inductee of the California University Hall of Fame.
Survivors include children, Phyllis Clifford of Woodbridge, VA, Bonnie Clifford, Enchanta Clifford, Leiah Clifford-Ogletree all of Clairton, Phillip Clifford, Jr. of McKeesport; sister, Lucretia Brooks of Clairton; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Friends will be received Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Morningstar Baptist Church, 307 Shaw Avenue, Clairton, Pennsylvania, where services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jonathan Robinson., officiating.
Interment will follow in the Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth, Pennsylvania.
