Shirley M. Mycka, a dedicated and compassionate individual who touched the lives of many, passed away on September 8, 2024, at the age of 93, in her home. Born in Rankin on September 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James Julius and Alice (Burrows) Lichka. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Eugene P. Mycka.

Shirley dedicated over two decades of her life to serving others as a nurses aide at McKeesport Hospital, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to caring for those in need. Even after retirement, she continued to work tirelessly as a baker at both Shop-N-Save and Giant Eagle, showcasing her work ethic and dedication. Shirley loved to read and also liked to bake and crochet, and enjoyed roller skating in her younger years. She was the cornerstone of her family, embodying strength, love, and resilience throughout her life.
Shirley is survived by her loving children, CeCe Draheim of White Oak, Jack (Margie) Byers of Irwin, Claude (JoAnne) Mycka of North Huntingdon, and Claudia Mycka of West Mifflin; grandchildren, Cindy, John Martin, Melissa, Katrina, and Mark; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Grace Kvorjak of Braddock Hills; many nieces and nephews. They will cherish her memory forever.
In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by her first husband, John Byers; sons, Eugene and Bruce Mycka; sister, Becky Wilson; and brothers, Jimmy and Billy Lichka.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, September 16, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. A blessing service will be held on Tuesday, at 10 a.m., in the funeral home chapel. Committal prayers and burial will follow in New St. Joseph's Cemetery.
