Mark A. Fazek, known as "Bear" to his family and close inner circle of friends, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born June 23, 1957, to the late Ruth M. (Bates) and Marine Corps Cpl. Albert M. Fazek. He grew up in White Oak and then resided in McKeesport. He is survived by son, Justin J. Fazek; and daughter, Jessica (Army Sgt. Paul) Kustra; grandchildren, Justin, Dominic, Haylee and Jordan (whom he lovingly referred to as "Bubbalou"; sister, Mary Elizabeth Fazek (Matthew) Shaffer; and nephew, Joshua.
He was a simple, outgoing and friendly man who loved to garden, listen to rock-n-roll and spend time with his family and friends. Mark was a graduate of McKeesport Area High School, attended Allegheny County Community College and graduated from Triangle Tech with honors, earned an associate's degree in specialized technology and maintenance electricity and construction technology. He was employed at Universal Stainless Alloy as an industrial electrician. Mark had previously worked at Park Corp. and West Homestead Engineering and Machine Co. (WHEMCO) for 14 years as a painting supervisor, was at U.S. Steel TubeWorks in McKeesport for nine years and was an owner of a restaurant called The Greenock Inn. He was a member of the U.S. Steelworkers Local Union 9531 554 and the former Elks Lodge No. 136 in McKeesport. He was honored with a private viewing and memorial service held at WILLIG FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 220 9th St., McKeesport. Inurnment will be in New St. Joseph Cemetery.
