James "Hooker" Velmer Walker, 74, of White Oak, died Saturday, November 26, 2016. He was born September 2, 1942 in Homer City and was the son of the late James Wilson Walker and the late Dorothy Marie Kinder Walker. James was in the car business for 58 years and was the proprietor of Walker Used Cars in McKeesport. He had previously worked for the former H.F. Clark Motors. Hooker had an extreme love for his cars and car racing.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene M. Cindrich Walker, daughter, Connie Sue (Buzz Craven) Walker of White Oak, son, Timothy James (Terri) Walker of Versailles, sisters, Patricia Taylor and Wendy (John) Brendlinger of Indiana, and Rhetta Jean (Jerry) Wilson of Brush Valley, brother, Kenneth W. (Cheryl) Walker of Homer City, grandchildren, Zachary James Craven and Jameson Timothy Walker, step-grandchildren, Robert and Kenny Craven, Sydney Humpfrey and Nolan Piotrowski, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dog Mookee. He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Floyd E. Taylor and John Anderson and his father in-law Lawrence Anderson and mother-in-law, Sophie Anderson. Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Tuesday, November 29 at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak (412) 672-6322 Troy J. Gilbert, Director. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, November 30, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the leukemia and Lymphoma Society at 888-557-7177.
