In Loving Memory of Darryl Robert Shaffer, age 51, who passed away on October 8, 2024, with his loving family by his side at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Darryl was born on December 17, 1972, in McKeesport to his parents the late Charles R. and Joy (Kibish) Shaffer.
A skilled construction specialist, Darryl was a dedicated and hardworking individual, known for his selflessness and kind spirit. He cherished moments spent with family and friends, finding joy in cooking, canning, history, music, and outdoor adventures. Darryl's homemade BBQ sauce was a beloved treasure among those who had the pleasure of tasting it, a testament to his passion for creating and sharing.
His memory will forever be cherished by his mother, Joy Shaffer, and all those whose lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.

In addition to his mother, Darryl is survived by his son, Charles Shaffer; former wife, Karen Ostrander; siblings, David Shaffer, Diane (Benjamin) Hetrick, Jay Shaffer, Donna (Jeffrey) Hecht, and Catherine Shaffer; nieces and nephews, Anthony (Kelsey) Mandak, Blair (Joseph) Amon, Spenser Shaffer, Anna Mandak, Gage Shaffer, Landin Shaffer, Braxton Readel, and Pierce Readel; special friend, Katie Kearney many cousins; extended family and friends.
The memorial gathering and celebration of life service honoring Darryl's life will be held at the Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory, on October 13, 2024, from Noon until the celebration of life service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. This will provide an opportunity for loved ones and friends to gather, remember, and celebrate the life of a remarkable individual who left a lasting impact on all who knew him. May his legacy of love and kindness continue to inspire those who carry his memory in their hearts.
