NANCY LENHART THOMAS, the only child of Dr. James Henry Lenhart and Margaret Augusta Lenhart died Nov. 30, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William H. Thomas. She was born March 10, 1933 in Pittsburgh. She graduated from Schenley High School, trained as a Registered Radiological Technologist at West Penn Hospital.
Attended Grove City College and Kent School of Social Work, University of Louisville, KY. In Stamford, CT she was installed as a Deacon at Turn of River Presbyterian Church. In KY, she worked for Mountain Mental Health as Coordinator of a 5 county drug program for Eastern KY. Also in KY, she researched, organized and co-directed the first rural Meals on Wheels. Returning to Allegheny County, she worked as a Technologist locally and retired in 1999 from Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Carrick Chapter No. 231. Nancy is survived by daughter Laura R. Thomas of Duquesne, son Robert James "RJ" Thomas of Ingleside, TX, son John David "Jack" (Nichole) of West Mifflin, daughter Judith T. (Kenneth) Dixon of West Homestead; 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at East Liberty Presbyterian Church on Wed., Dec. 7, 2016 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Nancy to PHEWA-Presbyterian Health, Education and Welfare Association, 100 Witherspoon St., Louisville, NY 40202.
