Frederick Charles Blanchard, Jr., 83, of Elizabeth Township, died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at home. He was born February 4, 1933 in Sewickley and was the son of the late Frederick Charles and Jennie Maloney Blanchard. He was retired from Continental Can Company and was a bus driver for the Elizabeth-Forward School District. He was a US Navy Veteran and served aboard the USS Columbus during the Korean Conflict.

He was a tireless veterans advocate and a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Veterans Honor Guard. Fred loved and was a faithful servant of the Lord. He was an usher at New Hope Assembly of God in Elizabeth Township. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Hermesman Blanchard, his children, Fred (Karen) Blanchard of Elizabeth, Elizabeth (Jason) Seibert of Bethel Park, Theresa (Gary) Blanchard of Greenock, Kathleen (Kevin) Matthews of Plum, and Christine (Sean) Cunningham of Whitehall. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren, Adam, Rachel, Alexandra, Danielle, Jody, Julie, Patrick, Ryan, Logan, Cameron, Katie and Christopher, great-grandchildren, Hunter, Gavin, Joslyn and Gaige. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Donna Jenkins and Betty Gobbel and brothers, Charles and Richard Blanchard. Friends are welcome Tuesday February 16 from 2-4 and 7-9, at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held at the New Hope Assembly of God on Wednesday February 17 at 10:00 am, with Pastor Lance T. O'Brien, officiating. (Everyone please meet at the church).
