Jack E. Donnelly, age 84, of Glassport, formerly of Port Vue, on February 15, 2016, his work was done and he was called home. Born December 15 , 1931, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Hugh and Margaret (Stegman) Donnelly, Sr.
Jack was retired from the Veterans Administration in Oakland, where he began working in the radiology department and retired as veterans benefits contact representative. He was a US Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War, stationed in Japan, where he began teaching himself the Japanese language. He was an avid reader, loved music and taught himself how to play many instruments. He enjoyed training and caring for many pet dogs through the years. In his earlier years he enjoyed ice skating and continued to enjoy spending time at his camp throughout his life. He was a gentle soul and caring person with a wonderful sense of humor.
Jack is survived by a brother, Hugh “Johnny” Donnelly, Jr. of West Mifflin; nephews, John (Linda) Donnelly of Clairton and Robert (Kathy) Donnelly of Elizabeth; dear friend, Jean Fuhs of Whitehall; great nephews and great nieces; also many other dear family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jack was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Schultz.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of the Rosary Church, 530 Michigan Ave., Glassport, PA 15045, on Thursday, at 10 a.m., with Fr. Miroslaus Wojcicki as celebrant. Committal will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery.
