Barbara "Thornton" Ostrander,66, of Finleyville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in St. Clair Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born January 1, 1951 in Smithville, GA daughter of the late Dorothy Campbell and Izeal Thornton. She was also preceded in death by loving husband Albert E. Ostrander, Sr. and sister Betty Thornton.
She was a homemaker to her children and family. She was also a Sunday School teacher for many years at James Chapel Methodist Church and attended Pittsburgh Beauty Academy. Barbara enjoyed sitting on her front porch waving to passing cars, telling stories and spending time with her family. She loved sweeping her house with a broom and was an avid follower of her beloved TV shows including Law and Order and the daily news.
She is survived by her children: Shemia Ostrander of Finleyville, Reeva Ostrander of Donora, Bernita Ostrander of McKeesport, Raymond Ostrander of Donora; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren;
siblings, Stephanie Flowers of Clairton, Anitra Rowan of Carrick, Roy Thornton Ronnie Thornton both of Jacksonville, FL; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 4–8 pm at Morning Star Baptist Church, 307 Shaw Avenue, Clairton, Pennsylvania, where services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow in the Stone Church Cemetery Finleyville, Pennsylvania.
Arrangements entrusted to the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc., Clairton PA.
