Olive A. Benyak, age 95, of White Oak, formerly of McKeesport, died June 1, 2017, at LGAR Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born September 25, 1921, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Wasil and Anna (Misczycha) Smolinsky and the wife of the late John L. Benyak.
She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Maryann (John M.) Zoscak, Jr., of White Oak; grandchildren, Matthew (Aditi) Wirginis of Pittsburgh, Jennifer (Michael) Mengel of Baltimore, MD and David Benyak of Santa Monica, CA; great grandson, Nico Wirginis; sisters, Mary Belback of West Mifflin, Genevieve Yuna of North Versailles and Pearl Rolnik of White Oak; daughter-in-law, Marie Benyak of Gibsonia; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John W. Benyak; siblings, Jean Konias, Michael Smolinsky, Stanley Smolinsky and Leona Shevke; and son-in-law, Charles R. Wirginis.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm, Sunday, June 4, 2017 from noon to 2 pm and 5 to 8 pm. Requiem Divine Liturgy will be held at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church on Monday, June 5, 2017, 11 am. Fr. Gregory Madeya will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1907 Eden Park Blvd., McKeesport, PA 15132.
