William A. "Bill" Balogh, 92, of Jefferson Hills, passed away Saturday June 24, 2017. He was born May 14, 1925 in McKeesport and was the youngest of three sons of the late Gabor and Mary Szekely Balogh. Bill was a lifelong member of the Free Hungarian Reformed Church n McKeesport and served as a church elder for 20 years. This is where he met his future wife, Irene Orosz. They married on June 19, 1948 in McKeesport. Irene passed away on October 19, 2011. They were married for 63 years.He was a dedicated and loving caretaker for Irene in the last years of her life. Bill was a 57 member of Stephen Bayard Lodge 526 F & AM, and served as Worshipful Master and Treasurer. He was a member of the Masonic Veterans, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, McKeesport Forest, and was also a 32 degree Mason with the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Pittsburgh .

Bill lived independently up to age 90 and was currently residing with his daughter, Cheryl and son-in-law, Ed, in Hollidaysburg. Every year, he enjoyed planting and cultivating his garden. He enjoyed watching his train show and old time country music shows. He was politically opioniated and kept abreast of current events. He retired after 40 years of service as a gas pressure reader for the Equitable Gas Co. located at the Tepe measuring station. After retirement, Bill worked part-time as a guard in the vault at Sky Bank for 12 years. He is survived by his children, William J. Balogh and his companion, Barb of NJ, and Cheryl Linton and her husband, Ed, of Hollidaysburg; 3 grandchildren, Erica Morgan, Rachel Morgan and her fiancé, Michael Lovas, and Joshua Balogh; great-granddaughter, Addison Lovas; 7 nieces and nephews as well as their spouses and children. Bill is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ida Mihal, brother-in-law, John Orosz and his wife Frances. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gabor Balogh and his wife, Ada, and James Balogh and his wife, Betty, in-laws, John and Esther Orosz, and a brother-in-law, Robert Mihal. Bill had the good fortune to be blessed with wonderful and caring neighbors who watched over him., Mark, Sherry and Markie Fedor and their dog Lucky. Friends are welcome Tuesday June 27 from 6-8:00 pm, and Wednesday June 28 from 2-4 and 6-8:00 pm from at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Interment will follow in the McKeesport Versailles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Free Hungarian Reformed Church, 101 University Drive, McKeesport, PA 15132.
