Wilbert “Bill” C. Gobbel, age 87 of Elizabeth Twp., formerly of McKeesport, died September 21, 2017 at Kane Regional Center - McKeesport. Born March 2, 1930 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Wilbert J. and Elizabeth (Purkiss) Gobbel and the husband of the late Carole (Lynch) Gobbel for 64 years. Bill worked for U.S. Steel National Tube Works as a rigger for 37 years. He belonged to McKeesport Turners and the 11th Ward Club and he loved to take his grandchildren fishing when they were younger, all 12 of them. Bill is survived by sons, Timothy, Terri (Vanessa), and Todd (Deanne) Gobbel; grandchildren, Matthew, Eric, Jason, Patrick, Nathan, Lori Morgan, Josh, Rebekah, Aaron, Amber, and Zac; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Elayne Sparico; daughter-in-law, Diane Gobbel and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son, Rev. Scott Gobbel; daughter-in-law, Pamela Gobbel; grandson, Guy Gobbel; great-grandson, Luke Gobbel; brother, Donald Gobbel and sister-in-law, Betty Gobbel. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
