Francis "Butch" Flanigan, 67, of Blythedale, formerly of Herminie, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 22, 2017. He was born January 10, 1950 in Greensburg and was the son of the late Thomas C. and Margaret Stafford Flanigan. Butch was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in West Newton and was also a member of the former St. Charles Roman Catholic Church of Sutersville. He was a member of the Sutersville Moose Lodge 1358, the Owls Club of Frank, UMBU of Blythedale, and was a social member of the Buena Vista Vol. Fire Co. He was a former member of Blythedale and Herminie Fire Companies. Butch is survived by his wife of 40 years, Shirley Coffer Flanigan, sisters, Nina (Carl) Dyer of Madison, Lauretta Stanley and Bernadine Flanigan (special friend, Chrissy Robinson) of Yukon, brother-in-law, John (Peggy) Coffer of Perryopolis, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas William Flanigan who died January 23, 2007, brothers, James T. (Joan) Flanigan of Herminie and William J. (Loretta) Flanigan of Blythedale, sisters, Elizabeth L. Flanigan of Irwin, Donna Flanigan (William) Krance of Yukon, Carol A. (George) Kopko of North Huntingdon. Friends are welcome Wednesday, October 25 from 2-5 and 7-9:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Family Church on Thursday, October 26 at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Joseph E. Bonafed and The Rev. James Bump will concelebrate.
