John P. Kustra, 93, of McKeesport, died Dec. 15th, 2017, at Southwestern Nursing Center in Pleasant Hills. Born Aug. 21st, 1924, he was a son of the late Anthony and Mary Ann (Kustra) Kustra.
John retired as a pipe fitter after 25 years of employment at General Motors Fisher Body plant. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and the Polish National Alliance, Lodge #352 in McKeesport. A U.S. Army W.W. II veteran, John served with the Amphibian Engineers in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He took part in the New Guinea and South Philippines campaigns and earned 3 bronze stars. He enjoyed hunting and fishing at his camp in Pleasantville and was an avid golfer.
John was very close to his family and his survivors include, siblings, Albert Kustra, Stella (Frank) Ruccio and Irene (Robert “Lefty”) Squires, all of McKeesport, Walter Kustra of North Huntingdon and Eleanor Todaro of Belair, MD; beloved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at Jaycox -Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 18th, 10:00 a.m., at Corpus Christi Parish. Interment will follow at St. Mary Polish Cemetery.
