Dolores Marie “Dolly” (Mihalic) Gondos, 81, of Elizabeth Township, died Saturday, February 3, 2018.  She was born June 13, 1936 in Donora and was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary A. (Kosko) Mihalic.  She was a member of St. Patrick Parish in Christy Park.  Dolly was a retired Library Aide for the Elizabeth Forward School District and had previously worked for US Steel and Columbia Gas in Donora.  She enjoyed her ladies card club, working crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and NCIS, and trying to figure out the clues to where the Daily News Easter Egg was hidden.  She was an avid Steelers and Notre Dame fan.  She loved holiday get-togethers with family, beach vacations in Outer Banks, NC, and the annual Gondos family reunion.  In her younger days, she enjoyed canning tomatoes and making the best pizza sauce around – her recipe was even published in the local newspaper!

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Gondos, daughter, Lisa (Gregg) Vay of Elizabeth Township, son, John Gondos of Bartlett, IL, her grandchildren Alex and Lauren Vay, who were her pride and joy;  sisters, Arline Sobek of Fairlawn, OH,  Mary Ellen (Glenn) Berggren of North Huntingdon,  and Patricia Karki of Wexford, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by brothers, John F. Mihalic and Michael J. Mihalic Sr. and his wife Denise;  sister, Marian Manecci and her husband John; brother-in-law, Andrew A. Sobek; nephew, Raymond A. Manecci, and niece, Teresa Mihalic.  She will be dearly missed by all.  Friends are welcome Tuesday, February 6 from 6-8pm and Wednesday, February 7 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township.  (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, director.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 8 at 10am in St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Township with The Rev.
