Daniel Cavanaugh, 57, of Elizabeth Township, died Monday, April 4, 2016 at home. He was born March 19, 1959 in New Eagle and was the son of Anita Schmidt Cavanaugh of Elizabeth Township and the late Harry Cavanaugh. He worked for Simonetta's Collision and Car Care Center in McKeesport and was a graduate of Elizabeth-Forward Class of 1977. Dan was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the garden and spending time with his family.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betty (Rose) Cavanaugh, daughter, Breanna and son, Daniel Cavanaugh at home, brothers, William Cavanaugh of Elizabeth Township, and James (Beth) Cavanaugh of Greensburg, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Dewyer of Canonsburg, Virginia (Wendell) Wuchter of Indiana, Evelyn (David) Johns of TN, Linda Kontur of Belle Vernon, Susan Benick of North Versailles, Helen (Charles) Rosier of Lincoln Borough, and Jean Cavanaugh of Lake Wylie, SC, brother-in-law, Fred (Joan) Rose of McKeesport, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Heinz Cavanaugh. Friends are welcome Wednesday, April 6 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, April 7, at 10:00 am with The Rev. Jody Dausey, officiating. Condolences may be made at gilbertfuneralhomeandcrematory.com
