Raymond E. Bishop, Sr., age 83, of McKeesport, died on Saturday, September 15, 2018, after a brief illness. Born September 14, 1935, Niles, OH and grew up in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Theodore and Mary (Merrbaugh) Bishop.
Raymond E. Bishop, Sr., age 83, of McKeesport, died on Saturday, September 15, 2018, after a brief illness. Born September 14, 1935, Niles, OH and grew up in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Theodore and Mary (Merrbaugh) Bishop. Raymond graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in metallurgy and retired from ASKO, Inc., in Homestead, as a sales engineer. Mr. Bishop was a McKeesporter through and through, having served as an assistant coach with the McKeesport Little Tigers and as one of the founders of the original McKeesport Flag Football League. Mr. Bishop was also a lifelong Steelers fan, from Pitt Stadium to Heinz Field, through the ‘Same Old Steelers’ days to their Super Bowl triumphs. Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife Karen (Kevana) Bishop; his children; Deborah, Raymond, Jr. (Patty), Dr. Susan McElroy (Tim), Leanne (Ben), and James Scott (Debbie); step-children, Keith Nelson of McKeesport and Brett (Leanne) Nelson of Newport News, VA, grandchildren; Ashley Farrell (Billy), Gayle Helt (Robert), Stephen (Nicole) and Sean; great-grandchildren, Allie, Zoey, Stella and Max; sister-in-law, Eileen Bishop; brother-in-law, Gary Hazaga; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bishop was also preceded in death by his children's beloved mother, Leslie Hazaga Bishop; brothers, Theodore and Frederick. Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, September 30, 2018, from 2 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 4 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Jody Dausey will officiate. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery of Port Vue, Monday, 10 a.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Mr. Bishop.
