George M. Jacob, age 84, of Liberty Borough, died October 1, 2018, at John J. Kane Regional Medical Center. Born August 22, 1934, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Mike and Elizabeth (Zackeye Koury) Jacob and the husband of the late Leona E. (Dawson) Jacob.
George was retired from the US Postal Service, where he was a letter carrier. He was a member of the St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Oakland. George was a US Army veteran, serving in the 746th Tank Battalion, stationed in Germany. He was also a member of the 11th Ward Club, in McKeesport and the White Oak American Legion Post 701. George enjoyed trips to the casino, where he earned his nickname “Two Deuce.” As an animal lover he raised pigeons, chickens and pheasants, along with his trusted German Shepherds. He also had a passion for gardening. George is survived by his daughter, Lynn A. (Michael) Horvath of Columbia, MD; siblings, Alice Jacob of Christy Park and Joseph Jacobs of Mt. Lebanon; also many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Nicholas; also a brother, Abraham Jacobs. Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, October 5, 2018 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m., in the funeral home chapel.
