Russell J. Sant, 78, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Wynwood House of Boalsburg. Born on May 24, 1943, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Russell Henry and Hilda (Oberfeichtinger) Sant. On March 27, 1987, he married his beloved wife, Linda Kaye (Smith) Sant, who survives him at home after sharing over 34 years of marriage together.
Russell was a 1961 graduate of McKeesport High School. He worked several different jobs while he was growing up. He was a newsboy, farm hand, service attendant, mechanic’s assistant, tow truck driver, and finally the owner and operator of a service station. After school, he began working for Sutton Engineering in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as a drafter, being self-taught and a lot of hard work, he held various positions, retiring in 2009 after 48 years of service as a Service Engineer. During his time with the company, he started and commissioned over 70 Extrusion Presses in over thirteen different countries.
In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by his 11 children with his former wife: Shawn S. Sant, Jodi R. Everhart, Joni R. Sant, Jayne R. Totora, Russell J. Sant, Jennifer R. Sant, Jacqueline R. Sant (Matt), Robert J. Sant (Laura), Sarahann S. Sant, Reed J. Sant, and Rory J. Sant, and two step-daughters, Julie K. Hartsock, and Sheila Auman. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Clifford Heasley, eighteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, three nephews, and two nieces.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his only sister, LaVerne Heasley, former wife, Ann E. Sant, a son-in-law, Todd Everhart, and a step-granddaughter, Sarah Almashie.
Russell was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. He was a problem solver, and an avid Do-It-Yourselfer. He enjoyed taking on challenging and new projects, both at work and at home. Russell also enjoyed working on his cars, bowling, and going fishing.
There will be a public viewing held on Monday, February 21, 2022, from 12-1 p.m., at Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., at the church, with Rev. Andrew Morgan officiating. The graveside service will immediately follow at Centre County Memorial Park in State College. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
