James “Jim” Ward, of White Oak, died peacefully at home on May 5, 2022, shortly after celebrating his 65th birthday with his family. Loving husband to Sharon (née Kundman) of McKeesport, they were happily married for 43 years.
Jim worked for over 24 years as a housekeeping supervisor at Kane Hospital in Glen Hazel and later Mercy Behavioral Health. An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed fishing and hunting until suffering a major stroke in 2010 that left him partially paralyzed. He also enjoyed annual family vacations to the beach. Jim will always be remembered as a hard-working, upbeat, fighter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Nathan, Blase, and James; daughter, Lauren; grandsons, Nathan II, Avery, Maxwell, and Hendrix; and granddaughter, Makaya.
He was preceded in death by his mother Iva “Sis” Churchfield (née Weatherwalk), and brother Kenneth Churchfield.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 11 at 10 a.m., at Mary Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church.
