Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | April 24, 2023
Gregory "Frog" Jay Gooch, age 67, of Versailles, died April 17, 2023. Born October 7, 1955, he was the son of the late John and Eleanor (Lindberg) Gooch. Greg retired in 2021 from ELG Metals in McKeesport.
Before that, he worked as a baker at Feigs Bakery in White Oak for many years. Greg loved watching sports and was an avid Pitt Panther fan and the biggest Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was known throughout the community as "Coach Greg" from coaching little league at WOAA and other organizations. Greg, in his younger days, played softball with the LSU gang.
He absolutely loved decorating his outside yard for all the holidays and special occasions. Greg had the biggest heart, even more significant for his love of animals, especially his pup Daisy, who truly misses him.
Gregory is survived by his stepchildren, Megan Donaldson, Billy Margie, and Jill Margie; grandchildren, Logan, Nora, and Dylan, brothers; Darryl, Jack, and Gary Gooch, sister-in-law; Louise Lindberg, his lifelong friend, and brother Robbie Jackson along with several nieces and nephews.
In Addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved companion of 20 years, Tina Margie, and brother, Ronnie Lindberg.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 5:00 PM until the time of services at 7:00 PM. Condolences may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com. Chris Odasso, Supervisor.
