Duane H. Carter, Sr., 76, of McKeesport died on Thursday December 8, 2016 at home. Born April 26, 1940 in White Oak he was the son of the late George Edmund and Elizabeth (Hudak) Carter. He was the husband of the living Rosalie (Canova) Carter. He was a graduate of Wilmerding High School and served in the US Navy. He worked at four steel mills including National Tube, Firth Sterling, Copper Mill, and the East Pittsburgh Westinghouse plant. He then later retired from McKeesport Messenger Service after 20 years.

Duane’s life was his family and nothing else seemed to be as important. In addition to his wife, Duane is survived by his children; Duane Jr. (Kathy) Carter, Lisa (George) Sokolowski, and April Morgan, grandchildren; Jennifer (Richard) Grech, Brittany (Matthew) Coyne, Autumn (Sean) Tessler, Lindsey Carter, Michael Sokolowski, and Carly Sokolowski, great-grandchildren; Mirabella and Breya Coyne, and Henry Grech, and brothers; George (Gayle) Carter, and Ken (late Marilyn) Carter. Duane was preceded in death by his step-brother Donald Carter. Family and friends will be received at the Willig Funeral Home and Crematory on Sunday December, 11 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday December 12 at 10am where Pastor Jim Decker will officiate. Burial will be held at Penn Lincoln Memorial. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Rett Syndrome Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family would also like to thank the Three Rivers Hospice workers Dave, Blaze, and Vickie for their loving, kind, and compassionate care.
