John Holuka, 95, formerly of Duquesne, died peacefully, Wednesday, April 6, 2016, in Locust Grove Personal Care, West Mifflin. Born April 23, 1920, in Aliquippa, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Simon) Holuka. A retired employee of U S Steel Edgar Thompson Works. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne, VFW Post 188 and a proud WWII veteran of the 8th Army Air Corps.

Beloved husband of 74 years to Mary (Magdich) Holuka; he is also survived by a son, Robert Holuka of West Mifflin; former daughter-in-law, Karen Holuka of West Mifflin; most favorite grandfather of his most favorite granddaughter, Amy (Holuka Maddigan) (Dan) Graham of Florida; two great-grandchildren, Kyler Maddigan and Kinley Graham; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, John Holuka; and a sister, Anna Beca. Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 8, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8PM in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Richford & Commonwealth Ave., Duquesne. A Blessing in the Memorial Home on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 10:30AM will be followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11AM in SS. Peter & Paul Church, Duquesne, with Rev. John Cuccaro as celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, West Mifflin. Parastas Service Friday at 3:30PM in the Memorial Home. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Locust Grove and Vitas Hospice for their kindness and wonderful care.
