Edward N. Welty, age 65, of West Elizabeth, passed away Monday, June 2, 2025 in Jefferson Hospital. He was a member of Elizabeth United Methodist Church. A registered nurse for more than 30 years, he worked mostly in the cardiac cath lab. He had a great work ethic and worked all over the country including Alaska and Hawaii, and spent a lot of time in Georgia, Florida and Texas. Born April 28, 1960 in New Eagle, he was a son of Robert N. and Dorothy (Kemp) Welty of West Elizabeth. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Carolyn Welty Ralph of Irwin and Robert G. (Cathy) Welty of West Elizabeth; aunt, Carolyn Rockwell of Elizabeth; nieces, Nicole and Emaly; and nephews, George and Eli. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Robert Rockwell. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth, on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be Friday, June 6, 2025 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ed. Pope officiating. Private burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Park. Christina (Antonella) Smith

Christina Smith, aged 90 of Harrison City and formerly of White Oak, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Redstone Highlands in Murrysville.  Born November 5, 1934 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Carmella Antonella.  A former administrative assistant at Westinghouse's Bettis National Laboratory and member of Mary, Mother of God Parish - St. Angela's Church, Tina will always be cherished and remembered fondly by all for her strength of character, keen sense of humor, all-embracing kindness, unsparing generosity, remarkable resilience, and last, but not least, her truly exceptional baking skills and treats.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Ronald A. Smith, who passed away in August 2005, and all seven of her older siblings.  Tina is survived by her daughter Linda (Chris) Temple of Harrison City, her grandsons Michael (Ashley) Temple of Harrison City and Jeremy (Milena) Temple of Penn Twp, the light of her life, her great-granddaughter Lexi Temple, and also many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services for Tina were held privately.  Tina’s family would also very much like to extend a special, heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Redstone Highlands of Murrysville for their exemplary care and comfort not only for Tina, but to her family as well.  Arrangements by the Daniel F. Mary Ruth Queen, 77, of McKeesport, was born March 2, 1948, in Industry, PA. She was the beloved daughter of the late Cecil and Carrie Spence Anderson.

Mary was a graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School,  a former member and past President of Mt. Vernon Elementary PTA. And she was also inducted into the softball Hall of Fame in Boston, PA.

Mary was employed at Dicks Sporting Goods warehouse working in the distribution, shipping and receiving departments.

Mary was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, friend, and wife of the late Robert Queen, Sr.

Carol Ann Brown, 84, of McKeesport, was born December 7, 1940, in Van Meter, PA. She was the only daughter of the late Claud Theodore Walker and Eldora Elizabeth (Carter) Walker. At home on May 28, 2025, she became absent from her body and present with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her parents, Claud T. and Eldora E. (Doe); beloved husband, Alonzo L. Brown, Jr. (Nab); daughter, Valerie Lynn Brown; sister, Berniece Dixon; brothers, Claud Eugene (Geno) Walker, Howard Milton Walker, Arthur Carl (Gateau) Walker, Vernon Alphonso (Doby) Walker, Carter Melvin Walker, Theodore Franklin “Teddy” Walker, Alvin Floyd Walker, Anthony Wayne Walker and James David “Hawkeye” Walker and grandson, Richard William (Ricky) Herring II.

Carol graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School in 1959, the second class to graduate from this building. Carol was a lifetime member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church of McKeesport, Pennsylvania. For many years, she served on the Senior Usher Board. She was employed and retired from Mon Yough Community Services as a receptionist. Carol was a member of the Robinettes (Clairton 88’s women’s softball team). She was a fashionista and loved to attend the Ebony Fashion Fair Fashion Show every year that it came to Pittsburgh.

During the Great Depression, Helen’s parents agreed to her intrafamily adoption with Anna’s sister, Angeline Checca, and her husband Joseph. Helen resided with her adoptive parents in Ohio until after graduation from Steubenville High School in 1944 when she returned to McKeesport.

Melissa Lou Stefanic, 63 of Elizabeth Township, formerly of Glassport passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025. She was born in McKeesport on February 21, 1962 to the late Frank and Kathleen (Dunlap) Ventresca. Melissa was a woman of many hobbies, talents, and careers. Starting her journey as a Ballerina at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, then going to Chatham University to become a teacher, attending St. Margaret's School of Nursing, and finally achieving a Master's degree at Waynesburg University while working as and RN for the VA Hospital in Oakland. Melissa was a member of the White Oak American Legion Auxiliary #701, as well as the American Legion Riders. She enjoyed her trips on the motorcycle, camping, and also loved crafting and being a dog mom. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Robert J. "Bob" Stefanic; her 2 sons, James F. (Angela) Stefanic of Pittsburgh, and Samuel R. (Sasha) Stefanic of Upper St. Clair; her grandson, James R. Stefanic; nephew, John (Crystal) Goldsworthy; and many loving friends. Thomas Wayne Carpenter, age 75 of North Huntingdon, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 1, 2025 while surrounded by his family. Born on October 15, 1949 in New Castle, he lived a life marked by kindness, humility, and unwavering love for his family. Thomas proudly served in the United States Navy, demonstrating a deep commitment to his country. He was a member of Word of Life Church in Greensburg, and the owner and president of Kress Manufacturing. Thomas was a gentle soul with a generous heart, known by all who loved him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Carpenter, his four sons Chris Carpenter (Kim), Aaron Carpenter (Amanda), Ryan Carpenter, and Jeremy Carpenter, and his cherished grandchildren Morgan, Levi, Tyler, Braden, Sam, Makayla, Owen, Trey, and Ethan. He also leaves behind his brother, Donald Carpenter (Mary), sisters Cande Haski (Marty), and Lynn Rabosky (Ron), and many extended family members and friends. Thomas was preceded in death by his loving parents, Donald and Ruth Carpenter. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, steadfast love, and the profound impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Robert D. Nicklow Sr., age 90, of Forward Twp., passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Jefferson Hospital. A 1952 graduate of Dunbar Township High School, he was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Monongahela and a faithful servant of the Lord. As an Evangelist, he did missionary work in the United States, Canada, and South America. He was a former employee of U.S. Steel Clairton Works’ engineering department and a former member of the Clairton and Jefferson Hills Auxiliary Police departments. He retired as an insurance agent for American General Life Insurance Company in White Oak. Born January 18, 1935 in Phillips, PA, he was a son of the late Arthur and Edith Paloma (Stull) Nicklow. He is survived by his wife, Pamela J. (Rimel) Nicklow; daughters, Bonnie S. (Alan) Metzler of Columbus, Ohio, Robin D. (James Sr.) Burns of Troy, NC and Tamara A. Morle of Detroit, MI; sons, Robert D. (Chris) Nicklow Jr. of Monongahela and Daniel J. (Marnie) Nicklow of Monongahela; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Leah Nicklow of Connellsville; also, nieces and nephews. Darril Clark Bill

Darril Clark Bill (“D.C.”), 59, was a lifelong adventurer who called many places

“Home”- McKeesport, PA; Peachtree City, GA; Orlando FL; and Blue Ridge, GA.

His final days were spent making his mark in Chattanooga, TN, where he passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

Darril was born in 1966 in McKeesport, PA to Faik D. Bill and Janice M. (Grimes) Bill.

Driven by his love of Country and passion for aviation, Darril graduated from The U.S. Air Force Academy in 1988 and fulfilled his dream of becoming an Air Force pilot. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and retired after 22 years of service.

In 1997, Darril joined Delta Airlines as a commercial airline pilot. At the time of his death, he was a newly-minted A-350 Captain flying all around the world.

A dedicated student of life, Darril’s love of learning made him a jack-of-all-trades, and his work ethic made him a master of most. You were just as likely to find him in his workshop repairing an antique pinball machine as you were to encounter him absorbed in a book on history or government. He had a movie quote for every occasion, and legend has it he would sometimes moonlight as Batman.

Whether he was enacting elaborate pranks he devised, researching & documenting the story behind a cherished collectible he had tracked down, or helping his daughters perfect their résumés, Darril always lived up to his playful ideal of “if it’s worth doing, it’s worth overdoing”. (Reader note: he also applied this life motto when pouring powdered sugar onto his pancakes.)

Of all his remarkable endeavors, Darril was most proud of the loving family he and his wife, Kimberly (Pasternak) Bill, built together over their nearly-37 years of marriage. The births of their daughters, Katelyn and Nora, led Darril to discovering his greatest life purpose: loving his girls and raising them to do good in the world.

Darril dreamed of retiring with his wife to his beloved cabin in the mountains of Blue Ridge, where they could watch the breathtaking sunsets and continue creating joyful new memories with their daughters, extended family, and dear friends.

Through his outstanding devotion as a husband & father, his loyalty and goodness as a family member & friend, and the kindness and respect he showed to everyone he met, Darril left the world a brighter place than he found it. Although his time on Earth was far too brief, his legacy will span generations.

For all who love him, we can honor his memory by having more adventures, pursuing our passions, spending more time with the people we love, and enacting more good in the world.

As for Darril, “Mischief Managed”.
