Donald J. Curry, age 91, of Jefferson Hills, passed away at home on Saturday, November 14, 2020. He retired with 35 years of service as a guidance counselor and teacher with the Pittsburgh Public Schools. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the South Park Baptist Church.
He loved fishing, woodworking and gardening. Born April 9, 1929, he was a son of the late Esther (Curry) Andrews and husband of the late Grace L. (Akerman) Curry.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Stephen) Britten of Lakewood, OH; son, Gregory (Trudy) Curry of Robinson Twp.; daughter-in-law, Deborah Grimes of Ohio Twp.; granddaughter, Dawn (Kenneth) Jackson of Wintersville, OH; grandson, Justin (Kathleen) Curry of Wallingford; great-grandson, Elliott Curry; brother, John Andrews of Oklahoma; also, nieces and nephews.

Victor DeSimone, age 92 of Wilkins Twp. and formerly of Clairton, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in UPMC Seneca Place, Verona. Born May 29, 1928 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Biaggio and Rosina (Nuoto) DeSimone. The former owner of DeSimone Fruit Market and DeSimone Hauling , Victor also spent twenty-three years as a watchman for Allegheny County. A sergeant during the Korean War in the US Army, he was a member of the American Legion Daniel Keffer Post #75 in Clairton. Victor is survived by his wife Marlene (Jurenek) DeSimone; his daughters Rosemarie (Carl) Fetch of Monongahela, Victoria (Gene) Zombek of Wilkins Twp., Marlene (Scott) Stachowski of Alpharetta, GA, and Carol (Samir) Joglekar of Duluth, GA; his six grandchildren Hilarie and Jordan Zombek, Austin and Emily Stachowski, and Maya and Pierce Joglekar; and also nieces and nephews.

Harry J. "Nick" Manning, age 76 of North Huntingdon, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in Forbes Hospital, Monroeville, surrounded by his wife and children. Born May 11, 1944 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Oatman) Manning and brother of the late Rose Kalkbrenner and Patricia Manning. From 1967 to 1970, Harry served as a sergeant in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War, earning six honorable medals, two Letters of Appreciation, a Meritorious Unit Citation, and a Combat Action Ribbon. Harry was employed as a craneman at Tygart Steel in Versailles, but he dedicated his life to his home and family. On October 20, 1970, Harry married his wife Christine (Bach) Manning and, in October, they celebrated fifty wonderful years of marriage. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Joseph (Shelly) Manning of McKeesport, Timothy (Debbie) Manning of Coulter, Terrance (Ggee) Manning of Versailles, Allison (John) Shipley of White Oak, Jennifer Carper of Coulter, and Nicholas (Jody) Manning of Rilton; his thirteen grandchildren Nicole, Lindsay, Joey, Taylor, Talia, Christopher, Terrance, Johnny, Nicholas, Dylan, Christina, Hunter, and Melanie; his fifteen great-grandchildren; and also many nieces and nephews. Words cannot describe or measure how much he was admired, loved, and deeply respected by all who knew him. He was a giant man with an even bigger heart, and he will always be a hero to his loved ones.

Stanley R. Urbanovich, age 77, of Tequesta, FL, formerly of Forward Twp., passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. He was a retired teacher in the Elizabeth Forward School District and a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Twp. A graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, he was a standout running back known as Stan the Bread and Butter Man. He also played football at California University of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed hunting and fishing at his camp in Kane. Born December 25, 1942 in Elizabeth Twp., he was a son of Helen (Sislo) Urbanovich of Elizabeth and the late Stanley A. Urbanovich. He is survived by his son, Brent R. aka Fr. Connie Lou (Indof) DiClaudio, age 83, of Bridgeville, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at The Donnell House (Concordia Hospice of Washington). She was a former switchboard operator at Bell Telephone and cafeteria worker at Elizabeth Forward High School. She loved swimming, volleyball, shuffleboard and darts while she lived in Florida. Born October 27, 1937 in West Newton, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Nellie (Biddle) Indof and wife of the late Dominick DiClaudio. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Tom) Pappas of Jefferson Hills and Tina (Rick) Manning of Jefferson Hills; sons, Dominic DiClaudio of Rostraver Twp. and Tim (Bobbi) DiClaudio of Bridgeville; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; also, nieces and nephews. A member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, Gloria was a graduate of the McKeesport School of Nursing and worked as a nurse for many years at McKeesport Hospital. She is survived by her husband William Takacs; her sons Ray (Kathy) Takacs of North Huntingdon and William (Dawn) Takacs, Jr. of Weirton, WV. As Gloria was also especially and greatly devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she is also survived by her grandchildren Katie (Angelo) Rometo, Thomas (Mindy) Takacs, Timothy (Jennifer) Takacs, and Stacy (Adam) Hardy; and her great-grandchildren John, Anne, and Sara Mamas, Eva Rometo, Levi, Elliot, Collin Takacs, and Ashton, Liam, and Delaney Hardy. A former retail manager for Sam's Club and Dollar General, he opened the first Sam's Club in Pennsylvania in York. He was also a school bus driver for Pennsylvania Coach Lines. An avid car enthusiast, he enjoyed building and racing Volkswagens and was a member of the Mon Valley RC Club of Cedar Creek. He was also a history buff, especially of the Revolutionary and Civil wars. Born December 30, 1948 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Raymond F. and Elizabeth Opfer. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Opfer; daughter, Joy (Peter Larsen) Opfer of Pittsburgh; grandson, Otto Larsen; brothers, Raymond "Terry" (Cindy) Opfer of Forward Twp. and David (Dorothy) Opfer of Washington; also, nieces and nephews. Paul E. Friday, age 92 of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020. Born September 1, 1928 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Frank and Margaret (Arendarchik) Piatek. The last survivor of a long line of siblings, Paul was predeceased by brothers Matthew, Frank, Stephen, Joseph, Michael, and John and sisters Helen and Mary. He was also preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 66 years, Gloria Catherine (McIntosh) Friday, who he married in 1949. Paul worked for many years at U.S. Steel's Clairton Works and served his community of Jefferson Hills as a councilman. In retirement, he enjoyed travelling -- making it to 42 of the 50 states -- working outdoors, and spending time with his family. Paul is survived by his children David Friday, Pete (Somkid) Friday, and Marilyn (David) Neu; his grandchildren Jonathan (Margaret) Neu, Cristina, John and Peter Friday; his great-grandchildren Anthony, Alex, Madison, and Savannah Friday; and many nieces and nephews.
