Terry Lynn Barlak, 65, of Monroeville, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at UPMC East, Monroeville. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, she received her master’s degree from Chatham University, and was retired as director of Children and Youth Services for Allegheny County. Daughter of the late Adolph and Marion Jacobs Markowitz, she is survived by her husband, Kevin Barlak; son, Michael Barlak of Monroeville; daughter, Sara Papachristou of Hampton Township; 3 grandchildren; and sister, Daryl Marks of the North Hills. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia Mayer. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the New Gemilas Chesed Cemetery, Upper Heckman Road, White Oak, PA 15131. June E. Traeger, 99, of White Oak, died Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Mount Vernon of Elizabeth. Born in McKeesport, June 12, 1917, daughter of the late Alfred A. and Edith Lindemyer Neuman. She was a paralegal for A.M. Simon in McKeesport, and an estate administrator for Rose, Schmidt, and Dixon in Pittsburgh. Wife of the late Edward W. Traeger, who died April 13, 1982, she is survived by her daughter and son in law, (Kathy J. (Frank J.) Orris of White Oak; granddaughter, Lisa Hivick of Ohio; grandson, David Orris of Ohio; and grandchildren in her extended family which includes Mary Beth Wilkins, John Peterson, James Peterson, and Meg Panarama. She was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma F. Fedorka. The oldest living member , elder, and deacon of McKeesport Presbyterian Church (formerly Central Presbyterian Church), she was a McKeesport High School graduate, Class of 1934. She was past matron of the former White Oak Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the Women’s Association of Central Presbyterian Church, past president of the McKeesport Symphony Auxillary, and an associate member of the McKeesport Hospital Junior Committee. Friends will be received in McKeesport Presbyterian Church following worship on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from noon until 2 PM. A service will be held Monday, November 7, 2016 in the church sanctuary at 11:00 AM with the Rev. John Peterson officiating. June Morrison Fiddler, 93, formerly of the Luther Ridge Retirement Community, Chambersburg, PA, and Mount Vernon, PA, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in Quincy Village, Waynesboro, PA. Born in McKeesport on February 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary Ellen Sigley Morrison. Wife of the late Albert Fiddler, she is survived by her daughter, Nancy Fiddler of Orlando, FL, also by nieces and nephews, and was preceded in death by her son, Robert Edward Fiddler and her sister, Nancy Johnson. She was a retired secretary and former member of Mt. Vernon Community Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Fiddler was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church of Chambersburg, was a graduate of McKeesport High School, class of 1940, and attended the University of Pittsburgh. She was a member of Falling Spring AARP #2840, the Afternoon Club, and the Kittochinny Historical Society, and served on the board of Meals on Wheels and IRP at Wilson College. Dorothy Rupert Stevick, 97, died October 3, 2016 at Spring Arbor of Williamsburg. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 18, 1919, she was the daughter of Roy Milton and Charlotte McCuaig Rupert, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Curtis Stevick; son, Robert S. Stevick II; brother, Roy M. Rupert, Jr.; and sister, Betty Turner. Mrs Stevick was a secretary for the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation. Survivors include her daughter, Susan Stevick and her son in law, Dr. Kenneth L. Webb, both of Richmond, VA and her sister, Barbara R. Fabian. Mary Ann Strager Mamula Popovich, 68, of McKeesport died Sunday, October 2, 2016 at home. Born December 13, 1947 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late George J. “Scottie” and Sophie Munyas Strager and wife of the late Stoyan Popovich. She was a retired high school French and English teacher in the McKeesport Area School District. She was a member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, a graduate of Slippery Rock University, and was the administrator of civil service exams to police and fire candidates for the City of McKeesport. She was the author of “Thy Perfect Gift”, a book of profound prayers and powerful words of wisdom, and told everyone she was a graduate of the George S. Patton School of Tact and Charm (no tact, no charm, I just get the job done). Friends will be received in St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 10-11 AM. A service will be held there at 11:00 AM with the Very Rev. Stevo Rocknage officiating. Interment will follow in McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery. Charles “Charlie” Sidun, Jr., 90, of Christy Park, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at UPMC McKeesport. Born in Royal, PA on February 24, 1926, he was a contractor and barber, was a member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in New Salem, a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Al O Mon Forest #138, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the Syria Temple of the Shrine in Pittsburgh. He was a WW II U.S. Army Air Force veteran, and served in the Pacific Theater. Son of the late Charles and Helen Volosin Sidun, Sr., husband of the late Bertha Jane Mikita Sidun, he is survived by two sons, Dr. Charles Stephen Sidun of McKeesport and Dr. Gary Alan Sidun of McKeesport, and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Michael, John, and Peter Sidun, Helen Duboy, Mary Vacha, and Anna Magda. Jason M. Bertoty, 38, of McKeesport, died Thursday, September 15, 2016 at home. Born in McKeesport, December 5, 1977, he was the son of the late Barbara Maines Bertoty and is survived by his father, Michael R. Ralph R. Alster, 72, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. Ralph was the son of the late Wilbert and Grace Alster. He earned a degree in architecture from Carnegie Tech. He truly enjoyed his professional career. He designed St. Brendan Episcopal Church in Franklin Park and Carnegie Presbyterian Church in Carnegie. He renovated numerous other structures in Western Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Many people appreciated his design of the trolley stop at Station Square. He is survived by cousins, Edwin, Jr., Ronald, Robert, and Carole Lynne Alster and Margaret Horn. Florence L. “Lola” Helfer, 93, formerly of Slickville, died Sunday, August 28, 2016, at home. Born November 14, 1922, she was daughter of the late Benedetto and Louise Balzano Fenili and wife of the late Edward Helfer. Mrs. Helfer was a member of St. Sylvester Church, Slickville Civic Center, and E.M. Kralick Post #18 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by daughters, Maxine (Richard) Balest of Norfolk, MA, Louise (Bill) Hunter of McKeesport, with whom she resided, and Kristin (John) Koester of Reston, VA; 7 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Helfer was preceded in death by brothers, Daniel Fenili and Louis Albert “Bates” Fenili and sisters, Minnie Markitell, Lena Lester, Rose Havaran, and Ida Bair. Isadore Small, 93, of White Oak, died Sunday, May 8, 2016 at UPMC East. Born in Czechoslovakia, September 10, 1922, son of the late Samuel and Rayla Smilivitz. Carol B. Gamble passed away on Feb. 14, 2016 at her home in Upland, CA. She was born to John and Elizabeth Brazill of Hastings, PA on Sept. 5, 1939. A graduate of University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Education, she taught at McKeesport, PA High School before becoming a CPA and establishing her own accounting firm. After moving to CA in 1986, she worked in public accounting until joining the Administration at Claremont Graduate University as Director of Budget and Business Affairs. Later she was named Director of Information Technology from which post she retired. Carol will be remembered as a loving wife and mother who is survived by her husband Jaye; sons Jaye III of Alexandria, VA and Scott of Malvern, PA and daughter Kristin Taylor of South Pasadena, CA; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
