He was born May 10, 1973 in Landstuhl, Germany, and moved to the Fayetteville, NC, area in August 1973 where he grew up. After a time living with his father and attending Norwin schools, he returned to the Fayetteville area graduating from Douglas Byrd High School, in 1991. Matt’s love of adventure led to a diverse range of careers over the years starting at 16 when he was hired by Eutaw Round A Bout Skate Rink, where he learned to DJ and was the occasional party mascot from 1989-1991. He then joined the Navy and left to see the world, eventually settling in the Virginia Beach area.

Helen Gergas Yanez died on Friday, September 23, 2016. She was born on October 18, 1924 in Peterson Plan, PA, which was part of Eden Park Boro. Many of the Lodge 146 pioneer families settled there and many still remain. It is now part of McKeesport, PA. 
Helen’s parents were the late Julia Babinec and John Gergas. Helen was married to John G. Yanez and they were the proud parents of six children, namely: Frank (Connie) Yanez, Rosemarie (Fred) Donahoe, Mary (Dave) Amaditz, Christine (Dave) Lieberum, David (Kim) Yanez, Elena Yanez; 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Helen was educated at Duff’s Business College and McKeesport High School. She worked for the Hunter-Edmundson-Striffler Funeral Home for six months, at Bell Telephone Company for ten years, five as a supervisor, for 14 years as a tax advisor for USS Steel Local 1408, for 17 years as an income tax preparer and for 19 years on her local election board in McKeesport, PA. 
In Lodge 146 Helen was a member for 65 years and has been the financial secretary for 19 years. She served on the Lodge Executive Board, the Historical and Cultural Committees, the Wage and Policy Committee and the Humanitarian Fund in all respects, collecting food and clothing and the DORA Fund.
She was a delegate to four national conventions, serving on various committees. She was the President and Vice President of the Croatian Women’s Club of Versailles and former officer in the Croatian Pensioneer’s Club of Lodge 146. 
A delegate from Lodge 146 to the Four Countries Conferences, she served on the Four Countries Board of Trustees and was their 1996 “Woman of the Year”. 
Other affiliations are as follows: she was a current member of St. Angela Merici Church, she was a member of St. Martin de Porres R.C. Church, its Christian Mothers and Altar Society, and the Young Ladies Sodality. She was a life member of Amvets Post 8, McKeesport, PA, and was president of their auxiliary for two years, a member of White Oak American Legion Post 701, was convention chairman for the Amvets at their convention in Monroeville, PA, an Amvets representative for visitations to Veteran’s Hospitals for the past 14 years.
Helen was a member of the Board of Directors of the Parkview Community Federal Credit Union. She was also an active member of Versailles AARP Chapter 2911. She served on the Community Affairs Committee and participated in their visits to veteran’s homes and to personal care and nursing homes in the Mon-Yough area.
She was active in the local democratic party and found time to aid any lodge member or friend in any way she could, such as taking them to church or shopping, helping with letter writing or visiting and comforting them. She was always there for everyone and anyone. 
The officers and members of “Sveto Trojstvo” CFU Lodge 146 thank the United Croatian Fraternal Union Lodges of Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland Counties for honoring sis Helen Gergas Yanez, a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, sister, neighbor and friend as the 1996 “Woman of the Year”.
Thank you Jesus for sharing her with us for almost 92 years. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, September 30th from 2-8pm at Striffler’s of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor, 412-678-6177). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 10 am in St. Angela Merici Church with Father Kevin Dominik officiating. Burial will follow. Charles “Charlie” Sidun, Jr., 90, of Christy Park, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at UPMC McKeesport.  Born in Royal, PA on February 24, 1926, he was a contractor and barber, was a member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in New Salem, a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Al O Mon Forest #138, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the Syria Temple of the Shrine in Pittsburgh.  He was a WW II U.S. Army Air Force veteran, and served in the Pacific Theater.  Son of the late Charles and Helen Volosin Sidun, Sr., husband of the late Bertha Jane Mikita Sidun, he is survived by two sons, Dr. Charles Stephen Sidun of McKeesport and Dr. Gary Alan Sidun of McKeesport, and nieces and nephews.  He was the brother of the late Michael, John, and Peter Sidun, Helen Duboy, Mary Vacha, and Anna Magda.  Friends will be received in the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA  15132 on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  A service will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 AM and at St. Sava Orthodox Church on Hartman Street in McKeesport at 10:00 AM with the Very Rev. Ditaly Dudkin officiating.  Panachida will be held Thursday at 7 PM in the funeral home.  Interment with military honors will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery.

Laura loved taking walks, keeping up on current events, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a Steeler fan who enjoyed a slice of pizza and her occasional beer. She was an avid Bingo player and was a member of the Friendship Club in McKeesport. She is survived by her daughter, Donna (the late William) Isbir, of White Oak; grandson, Bill (Janna) Isbir, of Pittsburgh; sisters, Annette Zyma, of North Versailles and Dolores (John) Marcinko, of Fullerton, CA; brother, Ronald “Rip” (Cheryl) Rybka, of Port Vue; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille Castor, Helen Gall, Virginia Macey, Bertha Natale, and Cecelia Sally Rybka. In her free time she enjoyed volunteering at Cornerstone TV, playing Yahtzee and spending time with her faithful dog, Hanna. She is survived by her caregiver, Margaret Ann Cant, of Versailles Borough, cousins, and many, many dear friends. She is survived by her son, Paul David Brown of McKeesport; stepsons, Eric Christopher Brown of Brick, NJ and Joshua Caleb Brown, of Jacksonville, FL; stepdaughter, Heather Brown of Brick, NJ; and grandson, Nathaniel Brown. Kathryn is also survived by her siblings, Carol Eiffart, Ann Marie Hallock, Patricia Watts, Ethel Poppa, Richard Shea, Edward Shea, and Dennis Shea.  A Memorial service will be held on September 17, 2016 at the First Church of The Open Bible in McKeesport at 3 p.m.  Pastor Brian Schmigel will officiate.

Linda (Maneer) Shipley, 56 of White Oak passed away at home unexpectedly while reading her daily Bible devotions on September 4, 2016.  Born March 12, 1960 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of Donna (William Wehner) Shipley and the late Donald Shipley.  Linda attended the First Evangelical Free Church in McKeesport for 50 years, and was active in Sage’s Army in helping to raise awareness of drug addiction.  Linda was also active in the Veteran’s Wounded Warrior Project  as a caregiver.  She was a nursing assistant at Bayada Nursing, where she cared for elderly and disabled individuals in their homes. She also loved to care for her horse Velvet and Louie Louis Vuitton her granddog.  In addition to her mom, she is survived by her children, Amy (Kenneth Ferree) McCarthy, Raelyn (Joseph Willard III) Meisenbach, and Sam (Rachel) Grissom; grandchildren, Dontae and Rayann McCarthy; sister, Lorraine (Gary Pearsol) Shipley; brother, John (Allison) Shipley; nieces and nephews, Livia, Nicholas, Dylan, Amanda, Amber, Anthony, and Aidan.  She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and Donald Maneer.  She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Grissom; brother, Thomas Shipley, and an unborn child. He was a firefighter and EMT with the former Sunset Central Department in North Versailles.

Dolores was a longtime parishioner of Corpus Christi Church, formerly St. Mary Czestochowa Church, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen L. (David) Kovacs of Sewickley; granddaughter, Rebecca Ann (Jarrett) Criss; sister, Loretta Tatarzyn of North Huntingdon; niece and three nephews; and sister-in-law, Florence Menes. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 2-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 5, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church.
