Matthew Ryan McWilliams, age 36 of McKeesport, died Monday, February 11, 2019.  He was born on September 27, 1982 in McKeesport, the son of Russell L. and Patricia Lewicki McWilliams. 

In addition to his parents, he is survived by brothers, Russell P. McWilliams of McKeesport, James M. (Tara) McWilliams of Mt. Lebanon, Brian J. McWilliams of McKeesport; nephews, Michael, Brandon, Ryan and Aidan McWilliams; niece, Natalie McWilliams; godparents, Ron (Irma) Lowicki and Marsha (Wayne) Banks; and many, many loving aunts and uncles.

He was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. He also enjoyed the casino and WWE Wresting. He was so excited on the return of John Cena.  Uncle Ron and Aunt Irma took him to many of his favorite events.

Jacqueline Odenthal, age 75, of McKeesport, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019.  She was born in McKeesport on Dec. 28, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Howard and Anne Rascher Odenthal.  She was a computer programmer and system analyst for various companies over the years starting at G.C. Murphy store in McKeesport, then Mesta Machine in Homestead, Mellon Stuart Company in Pittsburgh and the former Three Rivers Bank.  She was a huge dog lover, enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, crocheting and watching Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Penquins.  She is survived by her brothers, Howard “Buck” (Karen) Odenthal of West Mifflin and Mark (Lori) Odenthal of Shippenvlle; niece, Jennifer (Mark) Varga and their children, Zach and Lexi (Ian Kessler); nephews, Jeffrey Odenthal and his son Alex; Eric (Sonya Suntsova) Odenthal and Steven (Ilia Lopez) Odenthal; and her loving dog, Chika.

Nicholas Mellinger, age 27, of White Oak, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.  He was born in Pittsburgh, on July 28, 1991 and is the son of Patricia L. (Sinicki) Mellinger of McKeesport and William Mellinger of White Oak.  He was formerly employed as a metal fabricator.   

In addition to his parents he is survived by brothers, Regis Mellinger of McKeesport, Billy Mellinger and Andy Mellinger both of White Oak; maternal grandfather, Robert (Patricia) Sinicki of Pittsburgh; paternal grandmother, Carolyn (Cannon) Ivaska of White Oak; and also loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; 

He is preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Lorraine M. (Schuessler) Sinicki and paternal grandfather, Regis Beighley.

Rosemary McNulty, age 90, of Allison Park formerly of White Oak died Wednesday, January 31, 2019.  She was born in McKeesport on February 15, 1928 and is the daughter of the late William F. and Jane Wilson Jackson and the wife of the late Gerald McNulty.  She was an operator for Bell Telephone for many, many years.  She enjoyed shopping and valued the company and camaraderie of her family and friends.  And her great wit triggered laughter and happiness among those lucky enough to know her.  Rosemary also loved traveling, especially her many trips to Ireland.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Jean Jackson Eckman.

Rosemary is survived by her cousins Gerard Driscoll of Forward Twp., PA; Paul Driscoll of Murfreesboro, TN; and Daniel Driscoll of White Oak, PA and dear friends, Cahal and Kathleen Dunne from Gibsonia and their children and grandchildren, Ryan, Shaun, Dina, Nathan, and Jocelyn; also, nieces, nephews and numerous other cousins.

Steve J. Lipovic passed away peacefully of natural causes at Riverside Care Center on Sunday, January 27, 2019. Beloved Husband of Betty Jane Lipovic of 69 ½ years.  Steve was born in McKeesport on June 27, 1926, son of the late Steve and Julia Levicki Lipovic. He is preceded in death by his sister, Julie Fout of West Covina, California. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Wasilko Lipovic of McKeesport, PA, son Curt (Lisa) Lipovic of Bettendorf, IA and Celeste (Rick) Montanti of Gibsonia, PA and three wonderful grandchildren, Lauren & Lance Lipovic and Ross Montanti. He graduated from McKeesport Vocation High School, where he played football and was Vice President of his Senior Class. Graduated from the Douglas Business School of Pittsburgh, PA.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Donner and worked as a Data Processing Specialist at US Steel Corporation, Irvin Works for 42 years. Steve played baseball in the McKeesport Daily News League and used those talents to later manage Port Vue Minor League and Little League Youth Baseball for many years.

Estelle (Gottdiener) Galper

Estelle (Gottdiener) Galper, 86, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of McKeesport/White Oak, Pennsylvania, slipped into eternity on January 24, 2019, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by loved ones. She was born and raised in McKeesport, the daughter of the late Gustav and Olga (Spitz) Gottdiener.

After her marriage to the late Milton Galper, her beloved husband of 60 years, she moved to White Oak where she raised her four children (with a brief interlude in Newport News, Virginia) as a stay-at-home mother. After her youngest children were old enough, she realized her dream of going to college, and attained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh. After graduation, she worked as a psychiatric social worker initially in the Pittsburgh area, and subsequently for many years at Jewish Family Service Cincinnati, where she and her husband had moved in 1987. Her outgoing and empathetic nature made her a perfect fit for a career assisting others to cope with the traumas and stresses of their lives. Estelle was a long-time member of the old Temple B’nai Israel synagogue in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She had a beautiful contralto voice and sang in the Temple choir for many years. Congregants enjoyed her rendition of the avinu malkeinu prayer during the annual High Holy Day. Estelle had a lifelong passion for music (especially vocal jazz standards, show tunes, opera and symphonic/classical music), movies, literature and poetry, which passions she conveyed to her children. Estelle is survived by her children, Mark Galper of Monessen, PA; Jill (Joan Brown) Galper of Philadelphia, PA; Scott (Fabiana Perla) Galper of Philadelphia, PA; and Betsy (Kathrin England) Galper of Cincinnati, OH, who was her long-time caretaker. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew, Dylan, Nicholas, and Lucia; by 8 great-grandchildren; by her sister-in-law, Ethel (Leonard) Hellenthal; and her sisters, Judy (David) Lichtenstein and Sandy (Philip) Raskin; five nieces; and four nephews. 

Friends will be received on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 10:00 am  until the time of services at 11:00 am at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA  15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Services will be officiated by Rabbi Paul Tuchman.  Burial will follow in the Temple Cemetery.

Gifford Calvin Williams, age 82, of McKeesport, died Sunday, January 20, 2019. He was born in Huntingdon, PA on Dec. 11, 1936 and is the son of the late Theodore and Jessie Gifford Williams. He graduated from McKeesport High School in 1956 and served in the United States Army. He had a long career in the dairy industry beginning at Menzie Dairy, Beverly Farms Dairy, Farm Dairy, Taylor Milk Company, and retiring from United Dairy. He was a member of the Corpus Christi Parish in McKeesport and a member of the Holy Name Society of the former Sacred Heart Church in McKeesport. He was also a former baseball and softball coach at the White Oak Athletic Association.

She was a member of Linway United Presbyterian Church in N.Versailles where she loved crafting and was a member of the quilting group and the Feeding the Homeless program. She was a former member of Eastern Star and a Cub Scout leader for Pack #85. She was dedicated to her sons and was very involved with East Allegheny schools. “Sheli” was “mum” to everybody
