Sandra Lee "Sandy" Pomycala, age 81, of Plum Borough, formerly of Port Vue, died March 13, 2021, at AHN Forbes Hospital. Born June 23, 1939, in Dravosburg, she was the daughter of the late Aurelio (Arch) and Rosa (Klink) Buono and the wife of Richard A. Pomycala for 60 years.

She was a member of the Saints Joachim and Anne Parish. Sandy's greatest joys in life were her family's happiness and caring for her home. Sandy enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.

Helsel, age 67, of McKeesport, died March 9, 2021, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital.  Born January 24, 1954, in Braddock, he was the son of the late Jonathan and Philomena (Ross) Helsel and the loving husband of Lynda (Johnson) Helsel for 26 years.  Jack worked as a machine inspector for Motor Coil in Braddock and then as a security officer at Jefferson Hospital.  He enjoyed reading sci-fi books, watching wresting, and Penguin games.

Michael G. Markovich, age 72, of Port Vue, died March 9, 2021, at Jefferson Hospital. Born April 19, 1948, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Katich) Markovich and the wife of Charlene (Cipriani) Markovich.
Michael retired from the Borough of Port Vue Street Department as the head foreman after 52 years. He was a graduate of the first class of South Allegheny High School in 1966 and continued to the University of Illinois School for Broadcasting. Michael was a member of the Prosveta Lodge Club, Clairton sportsman club, and Elizabeth sportsman club. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and cheering on the Steelers in his free time.

Larry Knight, Jr., age 68, of Washington, PA, formerly of the North Side of Pittsburgh, died March 3, 2021, at Montefiore Medical Center. Born February 23, 1953, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Lauro and the late Azzie Lee (Jackson) Knight.

Larry last worked at Shop-N-Save, in Washington, where he worked in the prepared foods department. He also worked for the Salvation army in North Side of Pittsburgh. He served in the US Marine Corps. during peacetime. Larry was a member of the Life Church of Washington, where he was a choir member. He enjoyed reading, cooking, and singing.

Joyce Lynne VanSickle, age 59, of McKeesport, PA, formerly of Welch, WV, died Sunday, February 28th, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital.  Born July 29, 1961, in Welch, WV, she was the daughter of the late Mildred (nèe Jarrett) and Robert Fain.  Joyce was a nurse and worked primarily in West Virginia.  She always enjoyed art and poetry and had a lifelong love of owls.  She is survived by children Ricci Smith, Matthew Smith (wife Johanna), and River Davis (husband Jeremy); grandchildren, Simon Smith, Liam Smith, Joseph Smith, Alexis Worrel, Mauricio Davis, Carabeth Davis, Chloe Davis, and Caleb Davis; siblings, RJ “June” Nanz, Kathy Bardeen, Robert Fain, Jr., and Janice Rotenberry.

Nick Clarence Coban, age 90, of McKeesport, died February 28, 2021, at UPMC McKeesport. Born March 24, 1930, in Versailles Borough, he was the son of the late Anthony and Pauline (Selac) Coban and the husband of Eleanor (Holden) Coban for 66 beautiful years.

Nick retired from EQT as a crew leader and was a Korean War Army-Aircore Veteran. He was a member of the Eleventh Ward Club, Croatian Club in Versailles, and a former member of Sacred Heart Church. He was an avid tennis player and softball player all the way into his 80's. Nick was an outdoors-man and spent a lot of his time either in his garden growing tomatoes, hiking, fishing, or hunting.

William was a retired truck driver for Matlack Inc. He enjoyed motorcycles, especially Harley Davidson. William loved animals and volunteered at a wildlife refuge in Florida, where he worked with exotic animals.

(Dick) Grace, age 90, of McKeesport, died February 16, 2021, at home.  Born June 27, 1930, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Coughlin) Grace and the loving husband of Marianne (Bodnar) Grace for 63 years.  Dick worked for US Steel National Works as a crane repairman for 30 years. He was an active member of United Steel Workers Union Local 1408. He served as a Grievance Man, Vice President and President of Local 1408 from 1979 to 1985.  He retired in 1987 and then worked for the United Steelworkers Dislocated Worker Program and was President of Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees (SOAR).

Louise Ann (Larkin) Rutherford, age 73, of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2021, of dementia. Born April 29, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Dr. William A. and Barbara (Kough) Larkin.
Louise graduated from Uniontown High School in 1965, moved to Pittsburgh, and became a registered nurse (RN, then BSN from Duquesne University). She worked as a nurse for over four decades and cared for her patients (many of them higher needs children) like family. She remained close to her children and grandchildren, even when miles apart.

Shirley was the co-owner, secretary, and treasurer of the former Schlessinger Trucking Co. She was also a recruiter for the Peer Group with 18 years of service. Shirley was a member and Deacon of the former Immanuel Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed traveling, especially cruises with her family. Shirley was a member of the Port Vue American Legion Post # 447 Women's Auxiliary, where she was past secretary and treasurer.
