Leonard “Curly” Spence, 79, of Homestead, Pennsylvania, departed this life peacefully on  Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at the VA Hospital in Aspinwall.

He was born October 11, 1941, in Clairton, Pennsylvania to the late John and Cora Strong Spence. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Janie, Petro, John, Roosevelt, Eddie, Harvey, Littleton, and  Oleter Spence-Jacobs, stepchildren, Dewayne, and Shawn.  

Curly spent most of his life working as a Machine Operator until he retired. He was a veteran, who served in the United States Army.

He leaves to mourn his loving memories, daughter, Mona (Spence) Sizemore of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Lauren, Corey, Shawn & Robbie; two great-grandchildren, Zara  &  Zemora; sister, Reba King Booker of Queens, New York; son-in-law, Robert E. Sizemore, Jr.; stepchildren, Elmer, Kevin, Kareem, Tonya; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

Norma Brown

Norma Brown, 81, died Jan. 21, 2021 in UPMC St. Margaret Hospital. She was born Sept. 27, 1939, the daughter of the David Jenkins and Melba Dolores (Lovey) Jenkins was born September 27, 1939.

Norma was an avid bingo player and enjoyed putting together puzzles and crosswords. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and loved playing softball and was the scorekeeper for the following leagues: The Talk of the Town Gallery Lounge, The Continental Lounge and The Street Stars Lounge.

Her life and memory will be forever cherished by her husband of 58 years, Curtiss Brown, and daughter; Kismet Graciano of McKeesport. Brother; Gary (Marie) Willis of Cleveland, Ohio; Grandchildren Curtiss D. Brown of San Francisco CA., Tawnei Brown of Pittsburgh, PA., Isis Dupain of Lemoore, CA. Great grandchildren; Daejhon Brown, Chance Spicer, Aurora Rose and Emile Curtis.

John E. Reed Jr., 70, of Irwin, died suddenly Friday January 22, 2021. He was born April 4, 1950 in Owensdale, a son of the late John E. Sr. and Minnie (Schwartz) Reed and was also preceded in death by a sister Marsha Knight. John was a retired employee of Reed Tool & Die Co. and was an Army and Navy veteran. He was a member and Elder of West Hempfield Presbyterian Church, the Irwin Sportsman’s Club, the NRA, and enjoyed spending time at the trailer in Punxsutawney where he liked to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his wife Karen L. (Smith) Reed; his children Nicole A. (Andrew) Reckhart of Greenville, Jennifer L. (Matthew) Stephens of North Huntingdon, and Matthew C. Reed (Danielle Lloyd) of McKeesport; his grandchildren Isaac Meyer, Taya Sears, Cassidy Frick, Noah Reckhart, Hannah Reckhart, Loralye Stephens, Ella Stephens, Carson Reed, Leah Reckhart, and Brantley Reed; his siblings William Reed of IN, David Reed of Mt. Pleasant, and Deborah Bryant of CT; also nieces and nephews.

MaryEllen McGuire, 94, died Jan. 7, 2021, in Fair Oaks, Calif. She was born Sept. 30, 1926 in Pittsburgh, oldest of eight children. She was raised in the Catholic faith, which would later become the cornerstone of her life as she raised 10 children.

MaryEllen loved her faith, singing in the church choir, playing Bunco with her friends, and most of all she loved being a mother. She is survived by four siblings, Mercy Order Sisters Jeanne and Catherine, Bill and Marge; children Kathy, Tim, Maureen (Don), Cynthia (John), Eileen, Neal (Kristi), Anne (Troy) and Pat (Chrissi); 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was born on September 12, 1964 in McKeesport, PA. Debbie participated in the Special Olympics every summer. She is survived by her mother, Joanne (Spornak) (Ackerman) Yarnall and Jay Yarnall of White Oak and her father, Dale Ackerman of North Huntingdon; sisters, Michelle (Robert, “R.C”) Painter of Manor, PA and Kimberly Chuberko of Irwin; and nephews, Christopher Fry, Michael Fry, Alex Fry and Peter Chuberko. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, where a funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Everyone please meet at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. where her burial will take place. Norbert Piekut, 81, of Glassport, died Jan. 24, 2021.  He is the son of the late Peter and Sophie Piekut.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Kathleen (Bulger) Piekut; son Jeffrey (Christine) Piekut; daughter Kimberly Jeffrey) Stoner; grandchildren Zachary Piekut, Victoria Piekut and Logan Stoner; great granddaughter Amelia Piekut; brothers Thomas Piekut, Gerard (Wendy) Piekut and Gregory Piekut; brother-in-laws Jack (Lisa) Bulger and Billy (the late Patsy) Pierce; also nieces and nephews.  Norbert did corporate insurance for over 40 years, was a member of Queen of the Rosary Parish, Holy Name Society, former usher and choir member, member of the PNA in Glassport, Lions Club, Glassport Senior Citizens and was the past treasurer of the Glassport Developement Corp.  A funeral mass will be held Sat. 11:00 am at Queen of the Rosary  Parish in Glassport.  Funeral arrangements by Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport.

She was the wife of the late James Kemp Cook. Rita was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish - St. Patrick Church, Christy Park. She had worked for Liberty Candy and the former Mon Valley Petroleum. She is survived by sons, Scott J. (Haley Mosqueda) Cook of Sutersville and Kemp M. (Dana Barber) Cook of North Huntingdon, grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua and Nakita Cook and Antwan and Shawntrale Crosby, great-grandchildren, Evan and Ava Cook and Alana Crosby, brother, Donald (Barbara) Pozzuto of McKeesport, sister, Betty (Dan) Mains of Port Vue, sisters-in-law, Jean Pozzuto and Annetta "Netta" Pozzuto of Elizabeth Township and Lynn Pozzuto of Weston, FL, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael, Ralph, and John "Jack" Pozzuto and sister, Geraldine "Sis" Pozzuto. Marie G. Cecchini, 93, of Greenock, formerly of McKeesport, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021. She was born June 9, 1927 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Helen J. (Jobe) Carney.  Marie was the wife of the late Emidio G. Cecchini, who passed away January 11, 1978. She was a longtime member of Mary, Mother of God, Corpus Christi Site. She was active in politics her whole life and was a committee woman for McKeesport for several years.  She worked as a magistrate secretary in McKeesport office for 25 years, was an avid bingo player and loved the casino.  Marie loved to go out to eat, go dancing and listening to music, her favorite songs were "All Night Long" by Lionel Ritchie and "In The Mood" by Glen Miller.

Mary Pauline Revak, age 85, of McKeesport, died January 23, 2021, at home. Born March 25, 1935, in  Marion County, WV, she was the daughter of Raymond and Nancy (Shreere) Winemiller and the wife of the late William Revak.

Mary was retired from Laidlaw Transit Services as a school bus driver and truly loved her job. She traveled anywhere and everywhere she could. Mary made sure to visit several casinos during her travels. Her family knew her as the Queen Baker and taught all of them how to bake. Mary made the best lady locks and other treats like cookies and chocolates. She enjoyed doing crafts of any kind and doing her crossword puzzles. Mary was very loved by her family.

Koontz, age 55 of Clairton, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021.  He was a Marine and Industrial Sales Representative for Sherwin Williams, Eastern Region, a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare Church in Clairton, and a US Army Veteran.  In his spare time, he coached Clairton youth recreation football and baseball for many years, was a motorsport enthusiast, and loved motocross and his Harley-Davidson.  Tony was known as the “Fig Whisperer” after proudly and successfully growing one in his yard.  He loved to garden and looked after any youths that needed his help and will be remembered as a loving husband and father.  Born July 21, 1965 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Randall Koontz Sr. and Judith Piasente (Melvin) Long of Clairton.  Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife Nicole  (Saputo) Koontz;  son, Bryson A. Koontz of Clairton; brothers Randall (Ruth) Koontz, Jr. of Donora, Christopher (Brenda) Koontz of Mount Pleasant and Brian (the late Erin Pittman) Koontz of Clairton; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
