Faith Ann Jones Bennett left this earth peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2024 after succumbing to dementia at the age of 65. She spent the majority of her life in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, where she was born on July 28, 1958. Her final years of life were in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her husband so she could be near her daughter and grandchildren (whom affectionately came to know her as Yaya). She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

James “Jimmy” or “Hank” Gaudy, of White Oak, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born on October 28, 1932, in McKeesport, James was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Helen (Barey) Gaudy, sister, Jean, and dear longtime family friends Harold W. “Chick” and Lavona (Ratzer) Douglas, and Terri (Douglas) Kevana. James, a 1951 graduate of McKeesport High School, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War alongside his twin brother, Joseph “Joe,” as a member of the 3rd Division Honor Guard. Subsequently, James worked as a Foreman at First Sterling Inc. and AMO Industries. James will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend who would do anything to help those he loved. Although he was a man of few words, his actions expressed his love for those around him. He was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, spending many happy hours watching games with his family and friends.

Paul "Skip" Hunter, 89, of Greenock, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 31, 1935 in Versailles and was the son of the late Calvin William and Clarabelle Henrietta (Knapton) Hunter. Skip was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Local 95 and was a US Army Veteran. He worked for UPMC McKeesport Hospital and had previously worked for the former G.C. Murphy Co.

Donald L. Snyder, age 86 of North Huntingdon died June 27, 2024 at home. He was born March 27, 1938 in Wilkinsburg, a son of the late Walter Snyder and Verna Holt. Prior to his retirement, Don was employed as a bus driver for the former Port Authority Transit of Allegheny County for over three decades. He was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School, an avid reader, enjoyed model trains, fishing, history, and Pittsburgh sports. Don was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara Snyder in 2002. He is survived by his son, Lee Snyder, two daughters, Phyllis Kollar, Dawn Ward (Luther), two grandchildren, Brenden Kollar (Karen), and Luther Ward. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Tuesday, July 2 from 3-7 P.M. Interment will be private in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park. Willis Penrod Gilkey, Jr., 79, of Elizabeth Township, passed away on Tuesday June 25, 2024 at home by his loving wife and family. He was born January 4, 1945 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Willis Penrod, Sr. and Ruth (Davis) Gilkey. He was the loving husband of 53 years to Linda L. (Erdman) Gilkey. Willis was a Corrosion Technician for Equitable Gas Company for many years, known to his family as the "Gas Man."

Florence (Kelmeckis) Matta, 89, of White Oak, formerly of Duquesne, passed peacefully on June 24, 2024. The most important thing to Florence was spending time loving her family, and she now leaves her family on earth to be welcomed in heaven by her late husband George Matta, daughter Jodie Dillinger, son George Matta II, daughter-in-law, Rona (Stein) Matta, and granddaughter, Devin Matta.
Florence is survived by her son, Gary Matta and wife Larissa Rathway Matta, son-in-law George Dillinger and wife Cindy (Pazehoski) Dillinger, daughter-in-law, Cathy Matta, and 11 grandchildren; Bradley and Gretchen Matta, Logan and Keith Haselhoff, Brittany and Darin Kowalski, Tyler and Liz Dillinger, Langley and Tyler Shope, and Austin Matta, and 11 great-grandchildren; Nolan, Kash, Hagen, Miles, Bannon, Oakleigh, Kinley, Tyson, Warren, Greta and Tatum. Florence is also survived by her brother Edward Kelmeckis and wife, Geraldine, along with nieces and nephews and beloved friends.
In between family vacations, attending grandchildren’s sporting and school events, and great grandchildren’s baptisms, birthdays, and parties, Florence was a member of the Duquesne Women’s Club, Pennsylvania State Democratic Committee, Democratic Committee of White Oak, and Secretary of Branch 38 of the First Catholic Slovak Union, and treasured the personal friendships made through the First Catholic Slovak Union.
