Virginia Markley

Virginia (McAllister) Markley, age 104, of Clairton, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Celebration Villa of Chippewa. Ginny was born August 18, 1920 in Cherryville, Kansas, the youngest of six children.  Following her mothers death, when she was 2 years old, her father moved them to Streater, Illinois.  She lived there until she was 16 when her father passed away.  She moved to Pittsburgh with family and graduated from Wilkensburg High School. 

Ginny got a job in Large, PA, at Renzie Children's Home where she lived and helped take care of sick children.  She met her husband, Donald, in Clairton and married him on November 14, 1942.  They bought their 1st house on Jefferson Drive in 1950 and she lived there until she was 95 years old.

Ginny worked at J.C. Penney at Southland and Century III Mall.  She had many friends and enjoyed activities including golf, bridge clubs, Friends of the Library, water vollyball, and many walks around the circle.  She deliver meals on wheels until she was 93 years old.  Ginny and Donald traveled with friends and after his death in 1998 she went to Eqypt and China with her best friend, Gloria Wright.

Ginny is survived by her four children; Donald (Molly) Markley and Bill (Terry) Markley, all of Palm Springs, CA, Trish Patten of Beaver, and Bob (Susan) Markley of Morgantown, WV; her grandchildren Brodie (Cassie) Patten of Center Twp., Jamie (Jessica) Patten of Beaver, Jessica (Spencer) Ford of Fairmont, WV, and Ally (Curt) Walker of Morgantown; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Valerie Kohut, age 66 of Forward Twp., passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024.  Born July 20, 1958 in Monongahela, she was a daughter of the late Terry and Norma C. (Behanna) Kohut.  A waitress and bartender at local restaurants, Valerie will be remembered for her big, outgoing personality.  She is survived by her siblings Tammy (Joe) Posa of Forward Twp., Brian (Shelly) Kohut of Forward Twp., and Donald (Rebecca) Kohut of White Oak, and also nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Terry (Carol) Kohut.  Friends will be received in the Daniel F. He was employed as a maintenance laborer at QAI Aerospace in White Oak and was a member of the Fayette City American Legion Chapter 484. He loved to ride motorcycles and cookout for his family and friends on weekends. He loved music and playing the harmonica. A handyman of all trades, Shawn was always the joker making people laugh and smile. Born November 14, 1970, in McKeesport, he was a son of Darlene F. (Stearns) Dodds Shoemaker of West Elizabeth and the late Raymond P. Dodds, Sr. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kimberly J. (Smith) Dodds; sons, Dylan M. Dodds of Elizabeth Twp., Brandon T. (Emily) Dodds of South Park and Austin P. Dodds of West Elizabeth; granddaughter, Rosalie Dodds; grandson, Grant Dodds; sisters, Patricia L. (Matisz) Balocik. She loved going to flea markets with her husband and spending time with her most cherished friends Bill and Margaret. Barbara was preceded in death by her friend of 30 years and husband of 18 the late Leopoldo Fortino who passed away on January 3, 2019. Barbara is survived by her brother Michael P. (Jane) Balocik, Jr.; best friends Bill and Margaret  Regester; step-daughter Sherry (Erich) Hoebler and her cats, who she adored  Moochy Bella and Luna. Joseph A. Donkin, age 77, of Elizabeth Twp., and formerly of Clairton passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at home. He retired as an insurance salesman for Columbia Insurance Group and previously worked for Monumental Life Insurance. He was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross in West Mifflin. A graduate of Clairton High School and Suomi Junior College, Hancock, Michigan, he was an active and devoted member of the Clairton Lions Club. Joe was involved in the coordination of an annual golf outing to benefit the UPMC McKeesport Hospital Foundation Lion’s Diabetes Fund. He was an avid golfer and follower of local sports teams, and he loved to travel. Born March 27, 1947, in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Robert J. and Margaret L. (Amore) Donkin and husband of the late Patricia M. Donkin. He was preceded in death by brother, Robert J. Donkin. He is survived by many cousins and his godson, Luke Lueckert. Doris Elinor Morris, age 100 of McKeesport, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024 in UPMC McKeesport.  Born January 9, 1924 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Lewis McClelland Barnes and Olga Gertrude Barnes.  The oldest member of Park Baptist Church in Versailles and its "matriarch," she was known as "Aunt Dory" to her fellow church members.  The church was the most important part of her week, both spiritually and socially.  Doris loved to play cards, especially Skip-Bo with her family. She was warm, loving, and loved by all.  She had also formerly worked at The Famous department store in downtown McKeesport, prior to the devastating McKeesport fire of 1976, and as a bookkeeper for the coal mine where her father-in-law was a foreman.  Besides her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, the late James M. Morris, her son Gary Morris, her daughter Marilyn Stanesic, her granddaughter Carrie Swanson; and her six sisters and one brother.  She is survived by her daughter Sharon Victoria of Sunland, CA; her grandchildren Saffron Modes of McKeesport, Leigh (Todd) Daughenbaugh of Delaware, OH, and Beth Stanesic of Delaware, OH; her great-grandchildren Megan (Sterling) Modes and Jenn (Eddie) Lysen, Drew (Leslie) and Dylan Swanson, and Joshua (Mara) and Ryan Daughenbaugh; and her great-great-grandchild Griffin.

Born April 26,1945 in Los Angeles, CA, he was a son of the late Aubrey N. and Evelyn F. (Ridler) Waldron. He was a US Navy veteran serving during Vietnam War and a Truck Driver for J.B. Hunt in Trafford. Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Diana Waldron, who passed away on July 20, 2018. He was a former vice president and president of United Steel Workers Local 2227 and a lifetime member of Blaine Hill Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing, and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Born April 25, 1958 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Anthony and Rose (Hatalovich) Janicki. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol L. Janicki; sons, Richard (L'Lee) Janicki of Canonsburg, Anthony (Megan) Janicki of Elizabeth Twp. and Brandon (Marissa) Janicki of Blaine Hill; granddaughters, Anastasia and Alina Janicki; sister, Sandra (Marc) Kloszewski of Indiana, PA; and nieces and nephews, Dana (Amelia) Bickerton, Scott Bickerton, Charles Pershing, Juliah Pershing and Nicholas Kloszewski.
